I thought the complex gave her an ultimatum.
Yesterday the cop and I both went to the office to discuss with the manager the situation. They are apparently letting her break her lease early so she can move with the dog. I don't care who moves, I don't care if the dog stays or goes, or she stays or goes, I just want the early morning barking to stop. The cop was going to suggest that she remove the dog until she moves out when he called her yesterday. Either he didn't get a hold of her, or she gives less than a flying f about her neighbors. So, I have talked to her, left notes on her door, talked to management, documented occurrences with them, and now the township police are involved. I don't know what else I am supposed to do. I sleep with 2 fans on already to try to drown out the noise. I can't go to bed any earlier than I do because I work second shift. |

Anyway, just the soft squishy ones that are sold in the industrial aisle of the home improvement store. Maybe these might help? Phil |
no one should ever have to sleep with earplugs just because their neighbor is an ass.hole

I either need to take a short break from riding or starting riding way more. Not sure which.
|
ive tried ear plugs and they dont stay in my ears more than 5 minutes much less an entire nights sleep
|
Having worked rotating shifts in the past I used the following:
soft ear plugs box fan on the windowsill noise machine (that mimics fan or white noise) Living in Manhattan and waking up at 4:30 am for work blows. Good luck, hope the situation gets better. Lack of sleep is terrible. |
When I was in college and kept odd hours, I'd just play tunes when I slept and that usually did the trick. If I was pissed off at one of my roommates for keeping me up, I'd usually turn the music up louder. After awhile, I could sleep through anything.
Atari Teenage Riot at high volume usually got the point across. |
Feelin y'all's pain.
Mid-90's, I moved into an apartment in the chill artsy hood right next to the French Quarter. Just around the street from a strip of cafes, second hand shops, community theater, a *great* LBS, etc etc, and a couple nightclubs featuring traditional and contemporary jazz, funk, latin, some low key modern rock, little bit of trance/techno. Lovin' life. Twenty years later: all nightclubs, all the time, pumping enough sound to rattle everyone's windows, sometimes until sunrise. People coming back here to relieve themselves. Used syringes, crack pipes and condoms laying around. Kids dosed on lord knows what, trying to get into where they think is their apartment. That eviction notice I got last week? No problema! |
You should just go back in time to when you were in highschool and decide to be in a punk rock band. Hearing impairment rocks.

On the commute today had some d-bag passed me only to do the immediate pull in and slow down. So, I tormented him for a couple of miles. I don't mind someone who is truly faster going by me, especially given I am a kind of slow rider. But, the d-bags like this get on my nerves. Especially on a day with 20 mph winds gusting to 50 mph....
|
^sounds pretty annoying, do you think he did it intentionally?
reminds me of a similar thing that happened to me recently, some guy passed me and immediately tries to pull a whip skid but he's just swerving all over unable to lock it up. wasn't a big deal since I was able to get around him, but still annoying as I had to adjust my course to avoid him. |
Started back on roller workouts since racing season is over next weekend and figured I'd get started now. Going to be a real rainy winter so me and my rollers are going to be best friends.

Many times I'll just look down and think: "OK! We'll see how long this guy keeps at it." More often than I not I pass again within a few minutes, still going with a steady effort. |
I try to keep my hr at 170. I still need to do a max hr test.
|
Gonna ride "long and steady" for 4hr before work tomrrow, should net me a metric + some

Or if you just wanna know on the day, go find some local hill. Ride hard for 2-3min then just drill it (sprint) till you feel like you're gonna die. |

Not to open a can of worms, but max HR is too variable to measure with much confidence/accuracy, and not so useful either. Do a LTHR test if you want a functional metric.

I think timothyh gave my a bunch of resources a while ago, but I haven't had time to take a look at them. I think I want to look for zones and stuff to work in. |
Feel free to PM me or post in a different subform with a tag anytime you have questions. I like to think about exercise physiology.
Also, dig The Cyclist's Training Bible from Joe Friel. It's a classic that a lot of modern models and theories are based upon. |
Today I started commuting to work on my bike again after being sick for about 5 days. It was a depressing 5 days staring at my bike just collecting dust. But damn, did I feel out of shape.
|
Temporarily killed one of my C&V wheelsets today starting from a standstill at a light. Internally snapped the rear axle. Tire rub for days afterwards.

Wheels are done. 1416g with tape. No cassette lockring or skewers.
If I used alloy nips, I could have had a sub 1400g wheelset for $550 after labor costs for tensioning and truing. http://i.imgur.com/JTFYwE0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kLdbQKK.jpg |
You laced them yourself and just sent it to a bike shop to true it?
|
I can tell you after building 250+ wheelSETS that tensioning is the orgasmic part of wheel building.
