Yeah, I can fit 3 bikes on my roof rack. and I'm off that day so it works out. I have to read up on it more.

Part right but you want to let the coffee steep at room temperature for like a day or so. Course ground coffee, strain and filter out the bits.

You'll notice that the cold brewed stuff is sweeter, smoother, and less tongue burny.

Also if you are buying decent coffee you'll notice that cold brewing distinctly brings out the flavors that are described in the tasting notes.

At work we have one of these. It's pretty awesome.

Cool. I live in Nashville. If you decide to come down, I can give you some recommendations depending on what your into.

Definitely. I'm booked for May 20th to the 24th. I'll be wandering around taking pictures, eating BBQ like a fat kid. I plan on checking out the Johnny Cash museum, other than that I haven't really looked into anything to do. I would appreciate any recommendations.

Today I was riding in to work, missed my turn, got lost(only my second time biking in and not super familiar with my route) and ended up in what most people would consider the wrong part of town in the 3rd most dangerous city in the country. Everyone was super friendly, waved, smiled, said good morning. I guess thugs dont wake up before 8 a.m. though.

Nashville? BBQ? You will only be 3 hours away from one of the BBQ meccas of the world. In fact you'll be in the state less than a week after the largest BBQ festival west of the Mississippi.

Coffee related, since we're on the subject. Went to Coava yesterday, and was amazed at their choice for a warehouse as a retail location. They were using Chris King tamps, though (they told me his space was nearby) which made up for the awkwardly large space.

My espresso has been coming out better recently. Still can't foam milk for the life of me, though. I can only get enough for an even 1 cm over the cup :(

Under-biking as I call it. Doing that a lot got me into MTBing.

So far I'm liking it a lot more than Stumptown. Way cheaper, too. Only $15 for a half pound!

Been to Heart yet? That's my new favorite.

No, I'll have to check it out! I'm about to go home for the summer, though, so I'll have to get back to you in 3 months!

icepik1234 well I figure anywhere in the south should have decent BBQ. I'm going to Memphis in the Fall, I'll make up for it then.

True but not just BBQ. Anything artery clogging.
One does not simply go into a southern restaurant and order a salad without being stared down with cold beady eyes.

AristoNYC hit me up when you're headed around this way. I'll let you know all the places you need to check out and help you avoid all the tourist traps.

Two words: Lockhart, Texas. Make a point to get there if you're ever in Austin.

Dont go to Stubbs BBQ in Austin. Just don't. It's not bad. It's just, meh.

I'm still a huge fan of Rudy's.... Not sure if there's one in Austin. I have fam out in New Braunfels...

jlafitte 05-07-15 11:36 AM

If you're in Austin and want BBQ, make the pilgrimage and drive half an hour south to Lockhart. Trust me. Smitty's Market is the the Holy of Holies of barbecue, the Santiago de Compostela, the Temple Mount, the Qaaba. You order your meat in the back room where a thirty foot long smoker continously operates. Smitty's meat is sliced to order and served on butcher paper and eaten without utensils. It's so good they don't even offer sauce. If you get a second wind, Kreuz and Black's are also outstanding.

Sherblock 05-07-15 12:18 PM

SMITTYS IS AMAZING GO THERE!

Everything in that town is gold, seriously. You won't be disappointed.
