Today I sit in a cast on my legs and crutches under my arms. Hopefully in a few more weeks I'll be fully recovered so I can start riding again.

Luckily though, the stars aligned and I found a used chrome Kilo TT on Craigslist to replace my totaled Moto. Cleaning/fixing it up when time permits so that it's ready when I am. Can't wait! :D :D :D

Been there done that...in fact, been there done that so many times that I'm to the point that I actively think "pedal pedal pedal" every time I ride my fixed these days.

I put in 30 miles today, which is the most I've ridden at once in about 6 months now. Woo! Go me!

Learned that if you walk on slush in your speedplay cleats it will pack up so hard that it will turn to ice when you try and clip in. I had to scrape it out with a piece of metal to go riding. I was happy to get out as the crappy northeast weather has kept me off the bikes for 5 days straight. I got in 24 sloppy miles and it felt good.

Ride Safe,

Joe

If you ride fixed and free, that always happens sometimes.

I spend 80-90% of my time on a geared roadie, and that happens to me every couple months or so on my fixed roadie. It's never happened on the track, doubt it ever will.

also you should try racing some crits. they're fun and I bet you'd be good at them.

Can't beat that feeling.

Oh, I love this fast corner... inside pedal up... OMG, knee in face.

Today I finally got around to visit a shop that I've wanted to visit that's right along one the major cycling thoroughfares here.
It's called pista palace and there was not a single fixed gear/ track bike there.

71 and sunny here in Kansas today, got in a quick 15 miles before work. Can't complain, it was like 20 degrees a few days ago.

Today I'm going to pick up a new rear wheel with a coaster brake for my mtb. Can't wait to try that out - my last time on a bike with a coaster brake was on my Huffy BMX bike when I was about 10.

Didn't know they made coaster brake hubs for 135mm spacing.

Getting the 2nd , 3rd coat of primer on the SS/FG frame since the temps are back up into the warm 70's today. Gotta hurry as it's the wife's B-day and She has "planned the day out " for us !

No riding for me..

They probably don't. Not too worried about cold setting an old steel frame though, shouldn't be much of an issue.

Crits don't start till late April up here, even though we skipped winter this year, I'm just training and getting my cardio back up now. Yesterday was laps of mt tabor on a track bike, spinning 170 cranks is a lot harder than I thought.

I've made a couple, just popped in a longer axle and a couple of spacers. I'd repacked several coaster hubs before that, tho.

That is a clever idea. Though you are right about previous experience being helpful. Those hubs don't have that many parts, but they can be frustrating to get back together and running.

Today I finally forced some new rubber on to the freshly rebuilt Araya's for the Fuji. Threw on a seat and some bar tape too since I'm tired of looking at this bike in pieces.

So dope. So, so dope! I do not possess the strength to let unfinished bikes just patiently wait.

Oh neither do I. This is a purely wallet-induced patience.
