I scored a set of tubular 404's as my race day wheels, they're lighter than shallower clinchers and the ride is super nice, even on the cheap Tufo tires I put on. Was concerned about prepping and gluing them myself for the first time, but it wasn't bad at all...hooray YouTube.

TMonk 02-26-16 12:41 PM

nice. maybe I will glue these ones myself as well.

Huffandstuff 02-26-16 01:35 PM

Gluing tubulars is a lot easier than you'd think, the difficult part is motivating yourself to clean the old glue off.

Leukybear 02-26-16 01:44 PM

Be sure to get some of these if you're running tubulars:

I'm lazy about that, only clean the glue off after 3 tires. I'll probably die on a corner someday...

I only do it with my track tubulars cause I don't want to roll a tire out there. I probably need to reglue em soon speaking of, it's starting to get nice out.

Could use plumbers tape to get a tighter seal and not as much leakage.

Products ? Effetto Mariposa

They make one of the nicest torque wrenches out there.

Teflon tape is a must. I still imagine a bunch of dry sealant on the inside of the rims.

Did a training today for over 200 people in my specialty area. I am an introvert functioning as an extrovert, and this makes me more tired than a day of MTBing. Just spent!

But, one cool thing, one of my kids was there in the crowd today, getting to see his old man standing and delivering.

Today I: decided that I should finally get around to getting an air compressor.

Anybody have suggestions for a compressor and inflator chuck to go with it?
I've been eyeing the park tool shop inflator. Are harbor freight compressors good for non-standby occasional use?

TejanoTrackie 02-26-16 10:18 PM

Harbor Freight is total junk and very dangerous. For cheap stuff get Husky at Home Depot or Kobalt at Lowe's. Make sure the tank is ASME certified.

Nagrom_ 02-26-16 10:59 PM

I've got a harbor freight that works great. Only really use it for seating tubeless tires.

Muffin Man 02-27-16 05:46 PM

Sold the Enves, so today was my last ride on them. 87.5 miles of whoosh whoosh to send them on their way.

Regulatori 02-27-16 07:08 PM

Picked up a Viner Special Professional track frameset. Guessing 70's/80's.

Paint is a bit dull and some nicks in the paint...but no dents. Can't wait to build it up.

Pic...

Thanks for the thought and efforts!

I ended up getting one of these guys off of there:

http://www.mastertoolrepair.com/thum...0_5715K17.jpeg

Def not as clean and paint chip free but it was rebuilt rather recently with a new motor and had the tanks borescoped for rust.
Overkill? Yes of course but it was cheap off a guy moving across the country!

are there small compressors that arent powered by a gas motor that i can use inside?

From my looking around, there's more than plenty.

It's actually the latter, a small gasoline compressor, that's very very uncommon.

With the rol air wheelbarrow style compressor I scored off CL, they're usually used with honda gasoline engines and actually can be retrofitted if I so choose to with motor mount drillings already there on the top mounting rail.

Mumonkan 02-28-16 06:05 PM

TIL that my headphones totally died in one of the pockets of randobag. oops.
