Today I read numerous bf posts and found myself thinking "so much babbling...just get to the damn point already" more often than not.

TenSpeedV2 02-25-16 07:49 AM

Today I just finished shoveling my car out of my car port. We easily got a foot of snow already, and it is still snowing. Makes no sense to ride to work since the city is off, the MUP that I use is more than likely not plowed. Makes no sense to drive either with a high horsepower, rear wheel drive car. First world problems.

Today I'm done building this fixed-gear bike. Nothing left to do except ride and replace what wears out.

Replacing the stock FSA Tempo crankset and bottom bracket with Dura Ace saved 0.8 lbs. Not sure how I feel about the silver chainring but I guess it doesn't matter once its out on the road.

All metal, no carbon. 18.3 lbs as pictured. Like riding a cloud.

You notice a difference riding with the new cranks? Did you go 170 or 165mm?

170, same as stock.

I rode to the Cul de Sac and back last night, that's all, just to say I did. Not even a proper shakedown for creaks and such.

Car wrecked Tuesday night in the pouring rain, I'm on call this week and have been called at 3AM every night for things I'm not responsible for because $125k/yr engineers don't have the chops to even pick up the phone. Etc.

Hoping to get it out in the countryside this weekend to clear my head. I'll let you know.

Yeah! I'll go from just 45 to OVER 9000!

Mumonkan 02-25-16 01:29 PM

i recall reading about companies that actually specialize in that kinda thing; blasting your resume at a targeted audience

I bought some crunchy cookie butter from Trade Joes. Curse you guys from introducing this to me.

Thinking about trading my ICT for a Twin Six Standard Rando. Need an around-town bike with a rack, flat bars, flat pedals, and fenders, and I'd like to keep my Space Horse the way it is.

Nice bike TimothyH

I rode for 3hrs this morning at mid/high z2 (200w), with 5x1' at 150-175% by feel, which is 450-500w for me. I also threw in a 4' at 340w near the very end up Balboa, and I felt just great throughout the whole ride!

I took four days off the bike surrounding last weekend for our Mexico trip, and came back with a head cold, so my riding this week has been pretty tame. It feels good to get a solid workout in! Up next: 1hr with 2x4' efforts and otherwise easy, off Sat, then racing Sun!!!

I'm really hoping to ride some dirt this weekend.

Thanks.

Rode a few miles for lunch. Man, those cranks are stiff! After thinking about it a little, I wonder how much of that stiffness is in the bottom bracket rather than the cranks themselves.

Either way, the difference from the stock FSA Tempo cranks & BB is profound.

Your Bianchi reminds me of my kilo tt.

The only thing that would twist on that was the frame. Ramen 531tubeset.

Ramen, ha.

I was trying to get to 17 lbs like you so that it could be ludicrously overbuilt instead of just rediculously overbuilt.

I've decided that I want to laterally upgrade/downgrade the evo. Carbon wheels are cool and all, but I don't really need them. I'm gonna sell the 3.4/Powertap, and then get a quarq or something and a set of lightweight alloy wheels.

Should be dropping weight off the bike as well as saving some money. 2 birds with one stone.

I had a feeling T-man was a juggalo....

*throws him a faygo

Unkle Rico 02-25-16 06:40 PM

Yep, I felt the same. The 404's I had were fantastic but after a while.. I didn't really enjoy riding in them in windy conditions which was 80% of the time in SF so i ended up selling them. I've been jones'ing for a set of H+Son / ultegra hubs ever since..

Mumonkan 02-25-16 06:41 PM

imo aero wheels arent worth **** unless youre constantly riding in excess of 20mph

give me lighter shallow rims anyday

Unkle Rico 02-25-16 06:43 PM

Agreed.

but but.. deep carbon rims can look so badass on certain bikes
