How about a group of 7 doing a century on back country roads on everything from an old steel road bike to an aluminum fixed gear to a carbon endurance road bike to a randonneur. Get lunch halfway. Ride home.

Sounds great!

I am mostly talking about the kind of people who cannot ride their bike unless they have a matching jersey and shorts kind of folks.

I like all riders and bikes who remember that bikes are supposed to be fun!

It is pretty fun. A lot of work. I remember my first time. Didn't do the I am going for my water bottle motion before I went for my bottle. Got the yells. Oops.

Out here, 99% or so dress the same way, of the asshats...

I will take your word on the paceline, given I almost always ride alone. Something about my profession really pushes me to loving time alone, when I can get it.... I truly love my bike commute, given it is about two hours without phone calls, emails, or the dreaded... "This is a quick question...."

Huffandstuff 02-22-16 07:23 PM

I always match, black on black goes well with all seasons.

Mumonkan 02-22-16 07:37 PM

in NYC we got em in all sizes lol

TimothyH 02-22-16 07:44 PM

There are very few experiences like a paceline when riders are working well together. It is an absolute blast.

Having said that, I've all but given up on the classic Saturday morning group ride. Guys working hard to drop each other with no purpose other than to humiliate. Never look back to see if another rider is okay. Its become really bad over the last six or eight years.

Since when did cinelli start including public PSA stickers with their bar tape?
Got a random sticker that says "LOOK! Before open your door" with a pack of cork ribbon.

seau grateau 02-23-16 12:10 AM

Yeah I was surprised to find the sticker as well -- saw "LOOK" and thought it must be some kind of odd mistake. Haven't decided whether to put it on my car or someone else's.

I pretty much only ride the road bike nowadays, but I'm always going slow because weak.

Arrived in Cambodia yesterday. People are nice, except for the Tuk Tuk (taxi consisting of a moped with a trailer in the back) drivers asking you every 3 steps if you want a ride.

I think they have been doing that at least 2-3 years if not more.

Bought me a laptop today and all I could think was "This could be my new cross frameset". Oh well, I've been computer less for far too long.

^Nice.

I can't wait to get out and ride some dirt and shake down my new wheels this weekend if the weather does what it's supposed to.

cali_axela 02-24-16 07:07 PM

Planning my first century of the year this coming Sunday, maybe fixed -- wasn't able to ride at all in January while healing from a crash, and have been slowly ramping up... hope it doesn't hurt too much, will probably take the road bike to be safe. Doing a 40ish mile ride on the fixed gear tonight, to see where I stand and decide.

hairnet 02-24-16 11:05 PM

I need a job app machine gun. I have a couple call backs, so that's nice.

TimothyH 02-25-16 02:25 AM

Today I'm done building this fixed-gear bike. Nothing left to do except ride and replace what wears out.

Replacing the stock FSA Tempo crankset and bottom bracket with Dura Ace saved 0.8 lbs. Not sure how I feel about the silver chainring but I guess it doesn't matter once its out on the road.

All metal, no carbon. 18.3 lbs as pictured. Like riding a cloud.
