I saw Decapitated and At the Gates last night. It was awesome and brutal.

Rains fine, just keep your rides to under 2 to 3 hours and you can usually layer enough to stay warm, unless you're seriously training it doesn't matter though. Just ride ya bike.

That one year I was in Oregon was terrible. When I left CA, I was pretty indifferent towards rain, but the lack of sunshine and never being really dry was such a drag. Coupled with the fact that I couldn't drive yet, and was stuck in Newberg was perfect storm for making me not want to go back. Also didn't really ride much when I was up there because of the rain, probably rode more these last two weeks than I did the entire year I was in Oregon.

Ugh, I hate rainy weather. I got an invite back to AK for the upcoming summer and declined, largely because I can't hack perpetually grey skies.

Just checked strava, and wow I was actually right

I rode 256 miles the whole time I was in oregon, and I rode 400.6 miles these last two weeks.

We broke the drought and had a pretty wet fall and winter. Getting out and riding gets priority over weather. No irrational fear of water here. I shower daily.

Huffandstuff 02-21-16 11:04 PM

I shower every 3 to 4 days, I figure the rain takes care of the rest.

Edit : 152 miles on a fatbike seems insane.

pwebb 02-21-16 11:17 PM

grew up in PNW: road bikes occasionally, a lot in summer.

moved to CA: ride bikes everyday all day. sold car. bought more bikes.

so far so good

mumoncan is starting a new bike niche "Fatbike Rando"

Congrats.

I don't know. California could slide into the ocean any second. Doesn't seem worth the risk to me.

I'm snuggled up next to an active volcano AND it rains all the time. :(

About to move where it's ALWAYS windy. I have a feeling that's gonna be way worse. :)

Mumonkan 02-22-16 08:43 AM

yesterdays ride was spent perched upon this luxurious steed:

so not a "fatbike" in the modern sense

this was actually a topic of discussion at more than one pitstop. im pretty confident i can get a 12 of bottles in the bag with 3 laid on top, and naturally one in each cage

and thats without a classic #randooverstuff

25 years in the field and I think most folks would be better of with more time on the saddle and less time on "THE" couch....

Keep riding, and ignore the voices, unless they are all inside your head and telling you to do bad things, like riding a road bike...
