Today I meant to go out for a quick 20-miler, but accidentally made it 30.

SpeshulEd 07-04-16 04:32 PM

I rode my bike outside today. It was nice and all, but there are no trains in Zwift, just saying.

Holy giant photo, batman.

Trivia: that's an automobile carrier.

The perforated, galvanized metal you see is designed to deflect bullets. Country folk get bored real easy and shooting expensive automobiles had become an olympic sport in some places. At one time bullet holes were the number one defect for new cars arriving at the dealership. The result is what you see in the pic.

I actually have this saddle in white with the red middle stripe kicking around from an old bike with the same color scheme... I'd sell it to you super cheap. Would look rad.

Ended up needing to borrow a shop pump today to reseat a bead mid-ride and was taken by surprise of the backlit color digital gauge of Giant's control tower 0 floor pump.

The red psi digits blink when the preset pressure is met or exceeded.

The presta/ schrader chuck on it sucks though

seau grateau 07-04-16 07:39 PM

"Let's put a backlit digital pressure gauge on it!"

"OK but what about the thing that puts the air in the tire?"

"It'll be FINE."

hardboiled718 07-04-16 08:40 PM

electronic pressure gauge is completely unnecessary, can you imagine not being able to pump up your tires because you didn't have a battery for your air pump? another gimmick to make a simple tool appear better than it is.

Today I'm really enjoying my new Polar v650 HRM/GPS.

Still have some tweaking to do, especially around heart rate zones but this thing is really slick.

Today I rode my second century fixed, first self-supported.

Needless to say it was silly to push 80 gear inches up more than 4000 feet of elevation.

Beast.

Yesterday I took my new SS Centurion conversion out for a spin.. Not the best ride -- picked the wrong gear ratio in addition to discovery of the QR being to worn in the back. The chain fell off more times than I care to count which was really ****ing annoying. Other than that, good ride -- not nearly as many people out as i thought there was going to be

My ass is chapped from riding in extremely sweaty (they were clean when I started) shorts for two hours yesterday.

SquidPuppet 07-05-16 11:32 AM

Yesterday. 60 degrees, dark skies, WINDY. F'n Idaho weather.

Today has been a glorious day - I took it off work.

*Surfed BF and played piano in the AM.

*Went on an exploratory MTB ride in the canyons (Tecolote) by my apt and found some techy stuff. Lots of cleverly placed rock gardens.

*Just cooked a bunch of food to have leftovers for the work week:
-Chili-Lime marinaded chicken, grilled
-Cilantro-Lime rice, w fried onions and garlic, and lotssss of cilantro
-Roasted Asparagus: evoo, salt, pepper, shaved parmesan
-Avocado Slices w salt and cayenne

Up next: clean my apt at a lazy pace, some more piano, get to bed early.

One summer I drove Fords and Nissans offa those. Pretty fun gig. Well, the unstrapping them all kinda sucked, but the driving nearly virginal cars and trucks through a train and down a ramp and across a gigantic parking lot was really fun!

Today I rode when I should have taken a rest day.

Woo happy birthday vegan!

I heard vegans can eat whatever they want on their birthdays and it doesn't count toward their moral compass.

I ate what I wanted and it was all vegan! My breakfast was a delicious vegan mac with tons of stuff I got last night (the cheese sauce was really amazing and was just vegetables, nutritional yeast and a few spices) and my dinner was a ton of vegan chinese food with friends! I ended it with vegan key lime pie and couldn't complain. Why bother eating non-vegan food? It seems like a waste to me. If food is fuel I want to go high test not crude oil!

I don't "cheat" as people call it because if I cheated it would be a rather deadly game.
