It's very clear to me what's wrong with the world.

Racism, hate, lack of empathy.

Those are symptoms.

Today I'm returning my edge 1000 after 1 ride.
Its battery life sucks when you use all the bells and whistles you paid premium for!

At this rate, once the battery in it gets tired, its not even going to last a ride.

Today I realized my roadie's seatpost was crooked and my setback had turned into sideback. Took a while to realize it because the saddle was straight. Apparently the clamp on this dumb 4za post that came on the bike allows for yaw adjustment.

Today I messed around on my Surly hopping on an off the new Metro line bike path. Stopped at one of the small used parts bike shops and pickd up old school 105 FD/RD and front and rear brakes, plus a stem to help the fit on my GF's bike. Good price so I can replace a few parts on my Univega road bike that I cannablized from my 10 speed gear set. The parts look hardly used so I'm happy :)

TenSpeedV2 07-09-16 07:47 PM

Today I managed to weigh the bike at the shop.

http://i.imgur.com/YDpPHfJh.jpg

I could easily get it under 16lbs. Running Gatorskin 23's, M520 pedals, Phenom 143 saddle and a brake along with Zipp bars and a Deda stem. Bike had my Garmin EDGE 810 + mount and a rear light + mount on it as well.

Sounds like I am a weight weenie right? The package of Oreos I just killed off says otherwise.

TimothyH 07-09-16 09:15 PM

Today I put a new chain on my road bike with that far superior unobtainium infused factory lube that nobody knows.

Nope not at all. A true weight weenie would make a disparaging post about how much their bike weighs.

My 52cm venge, which tips the scale at a tad under 15 pounds thanks to the Di2 battery, is considered heavy.

There's fully equipped roadies out there which are easily sub-14 pounds. A weight weenie protip is to avoid electronic shifting and stick with cables.

ha, I like that way you put that. "require" haha.

Today I raced. Looks like I still know how to get a result!

Short version:

San Diego Cyclovets crit cat 3: 3rd out of ~28 starters from a break of 4, many DNFs on the hilly course. My team (SDBC) had nearly half the field!!!

Long version

Our plan was to basically attack continuously and make others chase. Kind of no-brainer when you have so many riders. About 12 minutes in there was a break of three including one of our riders (already the third SDBC attack), when the eventual winner made a huge effort up the hill and onto the false flat to bridge. I grabbed his wheel immediately and we were clear of the field.

I didn't think the break or even this bridge attempt would stick, but it did. He asked me to pull through and of course I didn't, I'd work if/when we got there I said. It took him about 1.5 laps to bridge us up, very impressive.

We rotated quite smoothly for the rest of the race and built up to a lead of 35 seconds. It was hard, but manageable. Back in the field our guys more mostly bored, but covered every bridge attempt and of course wouldn't pull through, much to the frustration of the other riders.

Fast forward to 1.5 to go, and the winner made a huge effort up the hill that no one had the legs to follow, leaving it me, my teammate and some other rider. Half a lap later my teammate goes (thank god) and the other rider couldn't grab his wheel, forcing him to drag me for nearly an entire lap. I sat on his wheel until right after the hard part of the hill, jumped him and got clear and coasted in for 3rd after like 5-10s of sprinting. SDBC went 2-3 to round out the podium, nice.

There were riders and teammates of mine in the field who were much stronger than me, and I really didn't think I'd be much of a factor today in regards to getting my own result. I'm glad that I chose the right wheel to go with, and that everything worked out. To make things even better, I had my parents and gf there to cheer me on lap after lap. I took my winnings and bought my gf and I a fancy lunch at UTC - It's been a great afternoon!

I also raced today, not as great of results as Tmonk though.

In the 4s race, I took a prime lap with a bottle of wine as a prize, but almost got crashed out because of ****ty handling from Team Mikes Bikes. They had around 6 riders in a field of 27, and they pretty much set the pace the whole time, but were super slow and none of their riders even got on the podium.

I was with my teammate near the back of the field when we heard the bell for the prime lap, so I took him up to the front to try to get in a better position. Noticed that the field slowed down a significant amount so I attacked, got clear and soloed that lap for the prime. In the second to last corner in the race however, Team Mikes Bikes tried to do some pro tour level gap shooting mid corner, and almost took a bunch of us out so I'm just glad I didn't crash and finished the race.

In the 3/4 race I followed a bad attack that only lasted about a lap. 2 laps later a nail went though my tire/rim, so I pulled out because I didn't have any spares and there weren't any neutral service wheels.

I'm pretty excited that I am finally strong enough to be kinda competitive, so I hope next year I'll actually get some results!

Gonna go eat at a korean bbq buffet soon with a couple of friends, so it should be a pretty good day.

That's a serious nail too. That thing meant business.

They almost got you too? I got squeezed in that corner and bumped a lot of elbows, losing like 5-6 places. Just glad that I didn't crash. And I thought that I recognized your bike in there Muffin Man

Good race tho
