Luckily I stocked up on inner tubes with one of their last orders 2 days ago :)

I'm bummed I missed out on the $15 SPD 520 action. :(

Cheer up, those are awfully heavy pedals. Good beaters though.

Do check out issi double and triple pedals.

Heavy, but cheap and durable. If I was gonna splurge I'd probably go with the XT 8000 action.

Heavy is good. Heavy is reliable.

If you're going to be using them on the road, I'd go with time for nicer 2 cleat pedals.

Bought an ultegra cassette and I'm borrowing a set of v8 Zipp 202's from the shop for the week. My wheels are super creaky and too light, so I'm building up a set of more durable wheels. 240s to belgium C2, so it should be really really good. I've kinda dipped my toe into the weight weenie pool, and decided I hated the temperature, so I'm backing out now. Good thing is that the Edco Monoblock cassette I got only has about 300 miles on it and sell for a pretty good price.

Also took the weekend and next week off so I'm gonna get some pretty good miles in so I'm pretty excited.

Manager at work is also starting to put me on more complicated jobs instead of just assembling bikes out of a box now, so that's pretty cool. Actually get to be a mechanic instead of just new bikes and flat changes!

I got 9 hours of over time today, should make for a handsome pay check to make up for calling in sick last week. In other news, my back, feet, and knees and in distress.

I like to call this guy The Clamps!

TIL Chas from Mash was the one that bought that super overpriced cdale track from Berkeley craigslist with the big dent on the top tube. :roflmao2:

I am bummed about PricePoint. They were one of the first bike sites that I ordered from and have been very happy with their customer service and in house products. Recently bought 2 pairs of their brand chamois and I love the fit and feel of them. Should have bought more than 2.

Today I swapped out a stem on my SS in the kitchen, at 8:30 am. That's a good start to a day.

The seller sure knew his market.

last night driving home from post-ride burritos we saw hordes of pokemon people standing around a grassy field staring into their phones

these are strange times.

Probably told the seller who he was and used his fixie fame to lower the price a lot

I run PD-M8000 pedals on the fixed gear bike. I wish they were lighter but people report that they have run them for many years, very durable.

As @Leukybear suggested. have a look at Time. I was lusting after the XC 8 last week. The XC 12 are sweet, and super light but I think I'm over the weight limit for titanium.

I doubt it, if I knew Chas was after mine, I'd jack up the price.

I'd put my money that he used his connection with Mike (owner of mash storeroom) to barter bike stuff with the seller. There's a good chance there was a cinelli involved.

Best part about them is they're rebuildable and parts are easy to order. Qbp carries them.

I do have to disclaim that, they're not as durable as above-mentioned shimano pedals though. But a good compromise.

I had a buddy wipe out during a XC race and the force of him getting torn off his XC12's ended up deforming the cleat interface on the pedals, making clipping in and out weird and float adjustment non-existant. They were good as new after being rebuilt.

The best part about the XC 12's is you get this nice tin case to go with it. :p

Today I did the beginner's class at Encino Velodrome. So much fun! Pulled a 15.89 flying 200 and a 1:33:89 kilo, finished fourth in an impromptu 12-lap scratch race at the end of the session. Can't wait to go back. Next time I will try to not be hung over.

Nice! It's been several years, but what a fun time! I should go back now that I have a track bike of my own :p

Yeah, definitely. I'm probably gonna start hitting up their Monday night training sessions.

hairnet 07-30-16 07:35 PM

Are you thinking of racibg or just going for the workout? I usually get out of work at 6:30, so I can't do that stuff anyway.

seau grateau 07-30-16 09:21 PM

Want to try racing eventually. Step one is get strong.

TMonk 07-30-16 09:26 PM

well you've been riding your new road bike tons. keep it up, do track, and have a blast!

seau grateau 07-30-16 09:43 PM

:thumb: That's the idea. I've already been noticing improvements, in my rides and just in general wellness. Riding is just plain good for me (who'd have thunk?).

motrheadsroadie 07-31-16 05:55 PM

two of the turns (i want to say 2 and 3?) sank a few inches during the northridge earthquake. riding at encino is so much fun.

We were hanging outside eating vegan doughnuts and stuff and two dads told their kids "there are no pokestops here let's turn around" whacky times indeed.

I don't understand what this whole pokemons thing is about but I hope it ends in a lot of dead morons. We need more natural selection these days ; )

I read this post earlier this evening and it made me sad that people feel this way.

In a world where people and police are shooting each other in the streets, little kids are murdered in school and terrorists are driving trucks into crowds, this just seems like more of the same.

People are free to do and say whatever they want and everyone makes choices in life. I've seen people die and have held dying people in my arms. I don't wish death on anyone.
