It is most definitely worth mentioning, and trying to get a rent credit. That's not starting off fighting with the owner, it's starting off by making it clear they can't **** around with you. An important statement to make, otherwise they're going to think it's alright to do other shady things in the future because you'll probably just go along with it.

It can't hurt to politely ask. I would.

Today I put in 45 miles on the road bike, most of them with a local club. Took 2nd in our sprint for the turnaround. To date.... by far my greatest cycling accomplishment. lol :o

Today I rode ~32 miles on the fixed gear bike. Easy zone 2 for 22 miles and then picked up a group out of the LBS and joined their paceline.

Awful nice of them to let me in and I have really, really, REALLY wanted to do this with the fixed gear bike for a long time. Kept up nicely but didn't get chance to pull because of one guy hogging the action at the front.

48-16 gearing. Hit 26.4 MPH and 133 cadence. Heart rate was pegged.

So... much... fun. :)

It is so much fun. I like 48x17 and 16 gearing. Ive tried 15 and didnt like it so much. Doesn't feel like your moving any faster and you have to pace yourself on it.

Today I took my geared crabon bike and commuted on it. Felt really weird but it was good. Have a creak somewhere in the seatpost area, either the post of the saddle rails. Might throw a set of 25's on my TK2 if they will fit, front will because I already tested it but not sure about that rear.

You are right.

I have a 16 tooth cog on one side of the wheel and a 15 on the other side. Its about a 7% difference but it doesn't really feel any different while riding. If I go too hard on the 15 cog however, it really hurts the next day.

My assumption is that one can adapt as one gets stronger and I may have to do some workouts if I want to keep up with the big boys. 110 cadence isn't sustainable for me, at least not now.

Pass him! Just pop out of whatever line you're in and slowly make your way to the front. Granted, it may be hard if you're already doing 133 rpm :)

Nice ride - I've always wanted to do the same thing. Next on the list is to actually build up a SS/FG road bike as I just disassembled and sold my old one because I didn't like it.

My (eventual) plan is to get a Wabi or a nice horiz. dropout steel road frame and build it up with some custom wheels, my FSA Gimondi cranks and some Ritchey Classic components I have lying around. Unfortunately I'm about 6-8 months out from making those purchases.

I'll run 42/15 with a 17t fixed on the other side for easier riding.

Yesterday I did ~30 miles in +100f. Took a lot of shade breaks and drank 37.8 gallons. The heat was working me harder than usual and the last 5 miles coming home were tough. Not sure why because I hyper-hydrated the days prior.

I'll gladly take it though, so much better than that white frozen ****.

The hog rider went to the back to rest at one point and the new lead rider let the pace slowly fall. I was ready to go when we dipped below 18 but hesitated - sat up a little, looked over their shoulders to see what was ahead, gauge the lead rider, etc.

That hesitation was when the hog behind me jumped out and sprinted to the front for another long pull. Heard him shift before he passed and knew that I had blown my opportunity. I should have went with him.

Still tho, was super fun.

Are you ditching your sweet Bianchi? Check out Kinlins for rims, I have the xr31t right now. Im thinking of getting xr22t or just re lace new hubs on the xr31t

Also I've had Kinlins before, xr270s on an old road bike, they worked just fine. I want a wider rim now, 23mm. Does Kinlin make a wide model???

In many of the group rides I partake in, the speed is just too high for someone to sit on the front continually like that. Fiesta Worlds routinely avg's 27-28 for the hour, sometimes as low as 26 mph :), but usually not. At those speeds, amateurs like myself have to be constantly rotating - people don't take long pulls, you pull through at the front if you can and then roll into the receding line right away.

What didn't you like about it?

everything really. while it looks cool, the frame has a headtube that is too tall and I want a material that is more forgiving for fixed road rides. the wheels were creaky and old, and everything else about it really just bored me to death. I had ridden it a handful of times in the last 18 months.

I like the idea of putting in a lot of longer solo endurance rides (and some moderate group rides like [MENTION=418438]TimothyH[/MENTION]) on a ss/fg, but I need to start with wheels and a frame that I like in the first place.

Also, yea Kinlins have 24mm wide rims. One is 22 deep which is the lightest at 440 grams and the other is 31 deep. Their xr279 is 23 wide and 28 deep, 490 grams (same weight as the 31 deep). Ive read nothing but good praises on the xr279.

hmm, I'll have to read some reviews. If they're priced like the 270's (cheap), they'll be a srs contender.

Pretty sad, indeed. I placed my first order with them in 1999 or 2000.

A few days ago I got plenty of tubes, an $11 helmet, etc.
