It also lets me still wear my glasses sometimes, which i do like because apparently i look good in them, and they help me look less like samsquanch at work. I considered lasik, and i know a few people that are super happy after having done it but my vision isn't really terrible (Things get blurry far away) and i like having options. oh yeah and the $4000 pricetag with zero insurance coverage too. Both of my parents had both eyes done. For them, happy is a huge understatement. But yeah, no insurance makes it a tough choice. |

I got prescription Oakley's two summers ago. Should have done it a decade ago.
Transition lenses change between full dark/clear in about eight seconds. The only time I notice the transition is when I come out of a tunnel into bright sunlight. VSP is great insurance. Don't hesitate if your employer offers it. |

a bad thing is that sunglasses are a pain in the ass now Also, I don't find myself reading things up close while wearing sunglasses very often so I don't think it will be much of a problem. |

What do you mean by "standard lenses?" I don't understand. I have the Flak 2.0. Oakley were the only people who could do the lenses I wanted - semi wrap, no line bifocal with the bottom of the lens' focus set to read a GPS at arm's length, transition, non-polarized, frosted edges. Everyone else uses third party labs and they wouldn't touch it. Oakley does their own lenses in house. My insurance would not cover the half jacket or anything with a specialized lens mounting system(rayban halfs/etc) as it was classified as a sport frame. Managed to get the gascan covered since it was classified as a standard frame and could have lenses cut for them. Many of the womens frames with full lenses did not sit close in towards the eye and would not give a reasonable amount of protection from debris.

An employer should provide coverage which encourages healthy activities such as sports instead of discouraging it by not covering the necessary glasses. Must be frustrating. Based on how my Oakley's perform and if I had to do it again without coverage then I would pay full price. I tried hard not to buy Oakley's but I'd not hesitate to do it again. -Tim- |
Oakley is a good choice for the optics technology, but so sad that they are now owned by the Luxottica monopoly. I remember buying $150 Oakley glasses and being happy with the "Made in USA" on them, but now my $300+ glasses from them are made in China.

Also, another vote for LASIK, had mine done almost 5 years ago now and it was definitely life changing. Being able to see when you wake up in the morning is something that should never be taken for granted. |
To give you an idea of how weak my script is, im actually not even supposed to be wearing my glasses all the time. The main reason i keep them on is because alternating between no glasses and glasses repeatedly thruout the day gives me migraines

I've been there 3 years now, and theyve had the previous location since '04. We moved right down the street, more modern building. I'm gonna miss the wood floors to be honest. |

No lol. We had to move a lot of our stuff to one of our other locations for storage. Pretty much only stuff we use every day got moved with us.
Better foot traffic though, we'll be busy as hell come summer. |
Any of the San Diego people remember when Gatorz were just starting out and they were practically giving those glasses away? Or am I the only one who is that old? You'd go to the bike shop and there would be Oakley's for $60 and gatorz for $2.80.
