Went to a Santa Cruz demo day yesterday at Water Dog. Took out a 5010 CC... whoa. I went in super skeptical that a new mountain bike could be that noticeably better in so many aspects than my 12 year old Santa Cruz Superlight. Then I promptly went endo and ****ed up my knee on the last gnarly downhill trail we decided to try before returning them... oops.

Yesterday I drove into Atlanta and took my daughter out for dinner as a break from studying for finals.

We went to this cool old industrial warehouse/manufacturing building which had been redone with shops and offices (saw quite a few tech startups) on the lower levels and apartments on the top floors. Ponce City Market. It has the old industrial hardwood floors, exposed steel beams, some of the machinery still there - really cool place. It's great that they aren't destroying these old places and throwing the parts in the landfill.

Pretty pricey shops but they have all kinds of ethnic restaurants - Indian, Thai, Etc. We ate Moroccan food. Lamb, spicy roasted veggies, some kind of really great pickles, Tahina, Hummus and the best pita bread ever. Marrakesh Mediterranean Market.

Definitely recommend Ponce City Market for an afternoon if anyone finds themselves in ATL.

Woohoo~!

I'm glad I already have a bike in AZ, so if I ever have time to undertake such an adventure I'd not have to undergo the torture of boxing and unboxing bike :)

If you hit phoenix at all, you need to check out Green, all vegan garbage food restaurant, very hip but super delivious.

Good luck on your bike trip.

Tight. Where are you riding--the Gila River Ramble?

Cyril 04-25-16 05:59 PM

Yesterday I rode my first brevet of the season...200km around Toronto.
Felt so good...it's just not the same without a control card.

bikeflights, even with $5000 insurance and the costs for shipping to and from AZ it was less than one way wouldve been if i had checked the bag on the plane

Kinda crazy how RHC has turned into such a big thing.

I went to the Mission Crit here in SF this weekend for the second year (was supposed to race in it, but had to bail because of my MTB crash, ugh)... super fun to watch, and it's getting up there in recognition. Not quite RHC level yet, but I can see it getting huge in a couple more years.

Today was a good acquisition day. Around noon I found a Fibermetal welding hood/hard hat combo at a pawn shop for only $30. Upgrade! Later on in the evening at the co-op I picked up good condition Specialized Hardrock, which will be the new bike for my Gf since she's been wanting to ride fire roads with me :)

Seeing how MASH and Chrome are both SF based and in partnerships with Cinelli; who is officially out of red hook, there's a good possibility Cinelli might pick up the mission crit.
