despair until we die, you mean.
i thinking living forever would be far worse than dying too soon

Realized my rear tire is about to die today, don't know if I should switch over to the everwear I have which I hate with a passion or if I should go out and snag a new Armadillo. I don't know if it's just the one I have but if I ever need to skid, the everwear makes the loudest squeal sound I've ever heard a bike make.

Dannihilator 07-31-13 08:33 PM

Today I put a suspension fork on the dmr.

Today I stepped on the scale.
Lost 24lbs since July 1st thanks to riding over a thousand miles this month and halfway watching what I eat.

TMonk 07-31-13 10:57 PM

wow thats huge.

whats your current height and weight? i know you ride enough to be atleast moderately powerful...

there should be a term we use for whenever someone says something tragically hip.

like, "someone woke up on the wrong side of the 8" split ep."

SpeshulEd 07-31-13 11:45 PM

Today, I only had an hour to ride and decided hill repeats would be a good way to punish my legs.

Literally, the last climb of the day, trying to go as hard as I could up the hill and I ****ed up my rear derailleur...I'm not even sure how this happens.

I recovered nicely and didn't fall...but I did gash my leg on the chainring.

LesterOfPuppets 07-31-13 11:58 PM

Ouch. Chain went into spokes and/or derailer pulley plate snagged a spoke. You probably have a few chewed up spokes behind your cassette, also.

hairnet 08-01-13 12:07 AM

Dang. Get riding soon and have the spokes behind the cassette checked out. Chewed spokes break.

Today I put in a nice evening/night 20 miler on the Kona. It got a bit sketchy at some parts but no damage done.

LesterOfPuppets 08-01-13 12:15 AM

Oh yeah, I shoulda specified that. Replace them spokes, even if just nicked. I usually just go ahead and replace all the head-in spokes on that side of the wheel, just to make sure.

SpeshulEd 08-01-13 12:18 AM

I'm not even sure what happened. I was going up hill, but I was really cranking. I don't remember shifting. The only thing I can think of would be debris getting in between the chain and the cassette causing it to jump off the cog. I'm taking it into the shop tomorrow (rather have someone who knows what they're doing give it a once over). I'm wondering if I'll need to replace the derailleur too.

The leg looks far worse than what it is.

Tomorrow, I ride fixed for the first time in a couple of months. Looking forward to it!

edit to add: thanks for the tips guys!

Well damn. 2+ years and no extra flanges, yet... A few more miles of radiation spread and I would have been evacuated, unsettling times.

If it's that Unit of yours that you're talking about, I'm super jelous.
The Unit looks to be a lot of fun.

oh well.

cars suck.

anybody got $300?

MAGAIVER 08-01-13 11:25 AM

Today I did my first ride outside in traffic, rode to the LBS and back 10km. My leg still hurts and its not that easy to pedal standing up but it's getting.
It's been only 3 months since my accident I shouldn't even be walking, feels great to be back on the bike out of the damn roller.
I still don't have enough strength in my leg to control the fixed gear bike, but riding the SS Mtb isn't all that hard.

seau grateau 08-01-13 11:50 PM

Today I've decided that FG with a brake is totally where it's at.

SpeshulEd 08-02-13 12:01 AM

Today I took my bike into the shop and learned that I bent the frame in addition to the rest of the crap. So, now we need to figure out if it'll be covered under the warranty or if I'm buying a new frameset.

Also put in 28 miles on the fixed gear tonight.

Did you get cut off by a painters' van? Because I did, and dang was it easy to get off the horns and onto the front brake lever on the flats when that happened, thankfully. Did I mention I tried to skid and my left pedal decided to clip me out (good times!).

seau grateau 08-02-13 12:17 AM

I'm pretty sure a lot of the people who drive in LA don't know that their cars have turn signals.

Srsly? Best at u-turns maybe but they suck at everything else. Sometimes I just hang out on the street so I can watch people try to parallel park.

I literally cringed at those pics as I was scrolling down because usually nowadays with lighter materials such happenings take the frame with it which later upon reading proved true. Sorry for your loss.

Not even. I have had so many people make u-turns right in front of me as I approach them or even right into me (I avoided collision)

Thanks. I guess those are the breaks. We'll see what we hear back from Fuji. The biggest bummer is I have no geared bike to ride for awhile. On the upside, time to fix up the fixed. Which needs it badly. I'll be looking at wheelsets today.

In other news...I wish I had a mtb, just so I could buy these shoes:
