Not sure how anal you are about your bar tape, but I had the issue with the caleido tape as well where it scrunched up in a few places. I rode it for a week, then rewrapped, and everything smoothed-out perfectly.
|
I stretched it as much as I was comfortable and only had a little bit of scrunching. I was let down by how short the rolls were. Wrapped my bars with about 2 inches of tape to spare :/

Today i broke in my Windsor Clockwork single speed which i bought almost brand new off of Craigslist for $175 yesterday. My first singlespeed, it was very fun, i will probably be experimenting with the flip flop hub shortly :)

Did my first [metric] century...it better get easier...
|
Today, I celebrated getting my roadie back by climbing. My legs hurt. Also, I'm so slow.

so i only did 2 hill repeats, but by far the most elevation ive had on this stupid island in a single ride
somethings up with my back tube, leaking slow and only seems to go down when im climbing real hard. was incredibly frustrating when id get to the almost top of a climb and have my tire start squirming around underneath me and have to stop, pump it up and get going again on the incline blasted past a pack of roadie bros on my way home though after that so that made me feel gud now i feast. |
Today I made eggs benedict and declared myself boss of this whole kitchen thing.
|
Today when I was at the exact half way of my century it started to downpour... It cleared up when I was eating lunch tho. Then it rained on me again at mile 80 for a spell.
So obviously: https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images...z9kou2650.jpeg |

Today I decided to part out/sell my Dodici Gara.

Today my neck, upper back, and left arm are exceptionally sore, after a nasty crash yesterday on the Golden Gate Bridge. Clueless tourist with a camera stepped backwards into my path without looking, only a couple feet in front of me and I had nowhere to go and no time to react. Hit her going around 15mph, went endo over her and ended up 10 feet in front of my bike with my Garmin and water bottle scattered in between. Sensation of falling frontwards head first is pretty weird. Luckily my feet both unclipped I guess, or else that would have been a lot nastier. Culprit was a 40-something Asian women, luckily she was totally fine, but didn't even say sorry or admit fault, kinda lame. Other than being scraped up, my bike is fine, but... ugh.
|
Shoulda wheelied over her.

Today I am pretty physically sore from yesterday, whilst juggling all of the usual monday annoyances in the office.
Yesterday I did my first ever points and scratch races at Kissena. They were intro races, but they were still pretty intense and eye-opening. I always felt like I was a moderately ok rider... up until yesterday, when I got the wake-up call. Riding competitively in the actual track is a totally different beast. Kicked my ass pretty hard. In my "defense", I did feel slightly undergeared... but I can't lean on that crutch. There's no denying, I'm not in the physical condition to do well in racing. Not even close to it. Not yet, at least. It was awesome, though. Had an amazing day. Can't wait to go at it again, train, and get actually halfway decent for next season. |
