Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Did 37 miles today, discovered that eating while on the bike is a good thing. Who'da thunk? Also I'm totally digging fig bars.

Racmmer Jerseys

Anyone own Racmmer jerseys? Have they held up well in the wash? They look really nice but don't cost that much, so it makes me wonder.

Today I rode in shorts and a tank top. Unlike certain Left Coast folks, I ain’t complaining.

Today my legs were healed enough from a Thanksgiving 10k (done with no training, not a great idea) to do 25 miles fixed.

Longest fixed ride since probably May or June. It was a perfect sunny 60.

Today I had my third Thanksgiving dinner in as many days, and I am stuffed. I think I've figured out why the winter weight always comes back so fast!

I just had a thought. If I'm going to take out a loan for a motorcycle i might as well get another fg as well.
The only struggle will be how to decide between riding motorcycle or bicycle on days off.

Humbug

You only hit angles like that on the track. You won't find public roads in good enough condition for that kind of grip.
Besides there wear full suits with pucks specificly for that.

Not true. There are zillions of roads in good enough condition for that. It happens every weekend all over the world.

Palomar Mountain in San Diego has finely ground up sea shells in the asphalt to provide good winter grip for the residents. So does Montezuma's Grade in Borrego Springs. It provides better grip than many race tracks I've been on. The tires will bite until you start tri-podding on your foot peg.

Tires are more of a limiting factor than the road surface. Law enforcement frowns on motorcyclists who run slicks on the street.

Don't you? You should if you are going 160+ and riding wheelies on a ZX10. No body armor = dumb.

That's what track days are for. But still riding in the street is very enjoyable.
