Sometimes it is with the Spanish foods. I've seen it in the beverage aisle as well. Stock is often spotty at Walmart.

I have two cases of glass bottles but am drinking less of it in the winter and need to cut down on sodium a bit. You can have a case if you want to drive to West Cobb.

Today I rode 48 miles in the cold and am damn tired. Remember your post about how to beat the heat? Riding in the cold is so much more difficult. Kicks the crap out of me.

One of the things they mention is individual variation -- some people just don't physically handle the cold well. I've always been kinda on the opposite end of the spectrum. Despite being skinny and having barely any insulation, cold doesn't bother me too much but heat just shuts me down.

Today I finally got a trainer setup with a TV and speed sensor so I am good to go. Been off the bike for 3 weeks now, and it felt good to put some miles on.

My new year's day ride was 26 miles in Nashik India on a borrowed road bike. It was fantastic.

I've gotten carded when buying pipe cleaners(!) They don't contain any tobacco, nicotine, any legal or illegal drug, just cotton and wire, but I guess they deduced I was going to use them for their intended purpose.

Today I'm couch prone for the second day.

Sunday I went down in the last cross race of the season and broke my collarbone.

Ouch! At least it wasn't the first race of the season?

Truth. I'm not complaining about forced rest in January (although it will be 70 here Friday)!

Losing that podium and the medical bills.... that's another story.

Must be an infant and still pushing up new teeth. When it gets old it'll only have 4 teeth.

This was a unique opportunity that started when my wife and I got invited to a college's wedding in Nashik. We decided to use this an an excuse to do our first bit of international travel. The bride arranged for me to ride with the head of the Nashik bicycle club the day after the wedding. As you know, the only way to really see a place is by bicycle.

India drives on the left... mostly. It was common to see bicycles, motorcycles and the occasional auto rickshaw coming the other way. Traffic appears to be total chaos at first, but after living in it for a couple of weeks it is totally natural. cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles and auto rickshaws move then they can to get where they want to go. This video does not do it justice, but gives a flavor.

The auto rickshaws are everwhere. They are a 3-wheeled hybrid of a car and motorcycle. They have small water-cooled engines in the back and handlebars to steer. A foot brake activates all three wheels and the shift and clutch is combined on the left grip. They are highly maneuverable.

My ride was in a small town of Nashik, 2 million. Riding on the neighborhood streets was crowded, but I followed the lead of my guide. It was crowded near the large Mahindra plant. I had to ride around bus, truck, pedestrian, and cow traffic. Yes there are cows everywhere. Most appear to be free range. Riding on the highway was not much different than on a US highway, except on the wrong side. We stopped for a short water/smack break on the side of the road. When we went to pull out my guide said to stop and wait. A heard of ~20 cows were being driven up the road by a herder. We rode to the Ballaleswahr temple that was very crowded with pedestrians, bicycles and auto rickshaws. My test came when I was confronted head on with an auto rickshaw at walking speed. I went to the left and so did he. I passed.

My only issue was a puncture on the return which cut my ride short. Other than that it was fantastic.

Most of the bicycles were indigenous Indian brands of Atlas and Hercules. They are industrial tough single speeds. They look like they were designed in the 1930s and have never changed. They are characterized by rod actuated brakes that grip the inside of the rim.

Very, very few road bikes. The aluminum framed bike with a carbon fork that I borrowed was the only road bike I saw and the nicest bike in Nashik. I did see a few more on Sunday in Lonavala. Indians typically have Sunday off.

Mend itself supposedly. Happy to not need surgery, but crazy that in this day and age you just let it do its own thing for a few weeks.

I'm pretty over feeling the crunching and shifting already though.
