I've been on the fence on these bells for a couple of weeks now. I love the sound of a really well made bell but, dang, $45 bucks. Are they that much better than the Crane bells? Is the sound "prettier" or does it just last longer? The Crane's have a beautiful ring.

no comparison. find a dealer in your area and test one out. they're made in the USA and have an excellent build quality and finish. they resonate well and have a nice tone- and more importantly a car can hear mine ring when they have the windows up.

I remember the time I installed it on my bike. The first ring sent a shiver down my spine.
There are chinese lookalikes on ebay but quality aside, its the tone and pitch of the original are unable to be matched.

JFC. It's a bell. I have to yell at the dingbats anyway, and even then that's no guarantee.
I can tighten/loosen the mounting screw on my crane bell and it will change the ring tone. It's like having 8 bells in one.

Most notable is the resonance of the spurcycle bell's ring. It's totally unmatched.

One of my riding buddies got a Spurcycle bell from their kickstarter that he raves about. I prefer less obtrusive add-on bits for my bikes so have several smaller Crane Osaka roadie clips but I do have one E-Ne. I don't know if more recent Spurcycles are improved from the originals, but whenever we are on any of our local urban social rides together and get into a ringing duel - my E-Ne stands up just fine against my friend's bell...especially repetitive dingling

Airhorn you say? Got a funny story for you about airhorns...
A few years ago after I had been hit by cars twice within a month and was pretty sick of it - I got one of those aerosol can airhorns from one of the marine stores around here and mounted it to my handlebar. The very next day - when a car drifted into the bike lane just a couple feet in front of me...I laid onto that thing. The driver swerved left and crashed into the car next to her. I kept riding, turned off that street as fast as I could, and pitched that horn as soon as I figured that I was far enough away from the incident to avoid any repercussions. Well maybe not so funny

All I did was post a video and share my owner experience. If that's being snobby you're a pretty sensitive guy.
