wow. i didn't know there were so many roadies in VA-- I used to live in Yorktown, VA and never saw any cyclists. i didn't take it up really, until moving to So.Cal. this is great-- you guys should get together to ride like we do in So. Cal!!

Do any of you guys in Hampton Roads know of a good place to rent a road bike for a few days? I'm visiting the fam next week and would like to get a ride or two in.

Alexandria, VA Old Town here.

I think they should make a new forum here and call it "Mid Atlantic" to encompass Baltimore metro area, D.C. metro area, all the way down to Richmond VA, and the rest of VA/MD/DC/DE/WV, over the to coast. The most logical places for breaks in "regions" are usually between Richmond and Raleigh to the south, and between Philly, and NYC to the north. however I have often seen the n orthern break occure south at the MD/PA state line so Philly was grouped in the NE.

I think in terms of bringing local people / events together, its probably MUCH better to have a "Mid Atlantic" region. As it is, the slpit in this forum splits a major metropolitan area of 6.2 million people, right down the middle (Washington D.C.) metro area, and thats not including populations of more than 50 miles ouside of DC, nor baltimore or richmond.

Any mods/ admins here that could look into giving us a "Mid Atlantic" forum for the geographic regions listed above, as opposed to splitting an area of 8 to 10 million people right down the middle?

I think it would be a very smart move.

First post for me as well.
Richmond here as well - downtown, other side of the bridge

Road: Specialized Allez
ATB: Trek 3900

Do any of you Richmonders get together to ride? I know that there is a club (RABA) but I have never ridden in a large group and I am terrified that I will end getting someone killed in a massive pileup because I couldn't clip out in time.....

Regards to all.

Yeah, I'm wondering that, too. Any suggestions for group rides? I'm an experienced rider, but unexperienced on group rides.

Ha ha! That's funny. Another one from Arlington here. I'm on my mountain bike Sat/Sun, and my singlespeed Mon - Fri during rush hour.

I agree with an earlier post. Let's lobby the admin for a mid-atlantic region to keep us DC/Baltimore metro misfits together!

Anyone interested in organizing a critical mass event in DC? I've been inspired by the one in Chicago.

I live in Chevy Chase, MD, but have a weekend house on the Northern Neck (near the aptly named village of Village). I probably log more miles in Virginia than Maryland.
