They have a new MTB trail at Miles Park, now called Beckley Springs, near Eastwood off Shelbyville Road. I rode part of it until I got tuckered out. Not technical, just some climbing.

Old thread but what the heck. Reside in Alvaton, ride mostly next town over in Bowling Green. Weekends I travel to Brentwood to ride their paved trails. Currently pedaling a Surly Karate Monkey tricked out by local shop, built from scratch. Love the steel ride.

Looking for road rides and I just picked up a nice MTB to ride at LBL.

Ride suggestions welcomed and/or someone to show a KY noob where to ride.

Thanks for the tip. I joined the club, and I will definitely join in on some of the rides.

Louisville here! Hoping to get into biking soon, but am a little wary of throwing down too much money on my first bike.

Great thought process. No matter what you by now, you will want to change after miles and experience with your route, rise.
we are blessed with great bike stores here, I would suggest Old BIkes Belong on Preston St. He has great refurbs for very reasonable prices, then will take it back in on trade for something else later. John is a great guy! Good luck with whatever you decide, be safe!

I'm in Cadiz too, would like someone to ride with on the road or the trail. Losing some weight would be good for me too. If that works for you, leave a message here and we'll figure out when we can meet. I've got a trek fx 7500 that's a few years old, I'm riding a C'dale R1000 now. I have a Merckx carbon frame and I plan to swap the Campy components from the C'dale to the Merckx frame. Also building a new bike with an IGH. Never tried one of those before.

Yea, I actually tried to PM you but I did not enough post. I would like to meet up sometime, however I will warn you, I will be awfully slow. I have not rode in a while and I am big. If you can handle that then we will have to try to find a time to meet up. Where do you usually ride? I live right in town so I will mostly just be riding the trail until I build up enough endurance then I am planning on trying to ride the bypass towards hop town since there is such a large shoulder. And the name is Matt by the way.

Bikes: Trek 720 Multitrack, Trek 3700 and an old Bianchi mountain bike

I know this thread is a bit old but thought I would resurrect it.
I'm in Draffenville - half way between Murray and Paducah.
Just getting back into cycling after a long layoff.
I have a Trek hybrid and a Bianchi MTB.
Not riding the roads yet but restricting my riding to the many paved bike/walking paths.

Hi I'm in Louisville Jtown area. I'm a pretty regular rider up and down Taylorsville Rd and around Bowman field in the warm months. I also ride the Louisville loop.

Best Bicycling City or Region in Kentucky

I may be relocating and am wondering what you think is the best bicycling city or region in Kentucky? I just ride for fun and recreation and enjoy riding in a few organized rides.

I can speak for the far western end. In Paducah there is a very active club - Chain Reaction Cycling Club - that has a few organized rides a week. Everything from "No One Left Behind" to some serious speed. For mountain biking we have an intense trail system in nearby Livingston County, and more gravel you can ride in the Land Between The Lakes recreation area, as well as some single track loops in the LBL. Four LBSs, three big dealers with excellent service and one independent shop that works on anything you can bring him.

I hope that helps, and if you need more info PM me and I will find the answer for you.

Thank you. That is the kind of information I was hoping for. I am familiar with LBL as I spent a summer there a long time ago as an intern. I know it has changed some since I worked there but still is an awesome place. Once again, thanks.

Lexington area by far. I've ridden all over the state, and nothing compares.
