Tomorrows plan: Don’t know yet. |
Did 33 miles today wearing my new jersey. Even though there was a headwind for the first part of the ride it seemed that I was riding faster than usual.
|
Yep I rode a massive 6.5 miles today ....... LOL To the post office and back.... :D
|
yes I did, but don't tell my Physical Therapist. He would not be happy. LOL
This morning hubby and I did the Trek Breast Cancer Awareness ride in Ocala. Almost 11 miles. Record number of riders this year (66). This is the 4th year that the Ocala Bicycle Shop sponsored the ride. The first year they only had 15 riders. So, nice improvement and great job done by this shop for a wonderful cause. Many of the riders did the 25 mile loop and I understand they had a SAG stop about half way out. When we started, it was misty and rain was predicted. Decided to ride the mb just in case the roads were too slippery. Suited up with our rain gear and took off. Only light rain on the way out. About 2 miles from the finish the rain really started and the wind picked up. Hubby and I were close to the end of the pack and taking it easy in case I needed to turn around. I knew there were several in back of us but later in the ride...maybe about mile 3, I realized that they had turned around so we ended up finishing last, along with one other rider. But, I was still happy...a little tired but happy to finish and the knee actually felt pretty good. Don't think we'll get much riding in tomorrow as it's supposed to rain all day but...we'll see. |
Did 33 miles today. Then went to the bike shop (they're having a big sale) and looked at a Felt Z4, or maybe I should say I drooled after the test ride. :)
Details and film at 11. ;) |
27 today, up to almost 130 for the month in five rides. I hope the weather will cooperate in allowing me to push that much higher.
|
Yes! Just around the neighborhood a little. Just to hang out with my bike a little between work breaks. Not nearly enough for how wonderful the weather is.
|
Those rides are my favorite. I like getting things done by bike.
|
Did about 1.5 to 2 mile test ride (with bike shorts and my pedals and shoes) on the Felt Z4. My wife gave me the ok last night so it came home with me.
I'll post some pics as soon as we have a sunny day. :) |
Went out before the rain started -- kind of. Got about 2 miles down the road and ran into sprinkles. I don't do rain, unless I'm already out and rain pops up, so turned around. My short 4 mile ride included one of the hills I hit on my way out to Stone Mtn. The new bike is awesome. Feels completely different from my Litespeed. A different kind of comfort and I'll have to get used to the compact gearing (50/34 and 11-28, 10 speed cassette). My Litespeed is 53/39 and an 11-23, 9 speed cassette.

Great job, Linda! I told Carrie I'd ride if my new bike was ready... unfortunately, Dan didn't get it built until Saturday afternoon. Picked it up yesterday and I am now the proud rider of a Madone 4.5 wsd - put 23 miles on it today - being the first day without rain in FOREVER!!! Still hope to meet up with you one of these days for a ride. I'm riding the Horse Farm 100 (tours) out of Flemington in a couple of weeks - just 25 miles.
Did you see the pictures of the ride on OBS's Facebook page? If you did, I was the one that looked like a dork on the far right (group picture) in the rain poncho. But, I stayed dry anyway...One day I'll get a better rain jacket to wear. Have fun on the Horse Farm 100. Beautiful area to ride. Hubby and I sometimes will leave our house and get on 36th (in front of West Port) , head west past alot of the horse farms and out to 110th. Some real hills out there. Nice ride on a Sunday AM when the traffic is light. Enjoy your new bike! |

I took the new bike out today and did my usual 33 mile route. Wow!! What a ride. :D The new bike is awesome. :thumb:
It was cloudy and overcast all day but I managed to take a few pics when I got home. I know you're all just dying to see the new bike ;) so here it is. http://web.me.com/ronhorne/Site/Rons...s/PICT0988.jpg http://web.me.com/ronhorne/Site/Rons...s/PICT0986.jpg |
Took the Litespeed out today. I usually alternate bikes with each ride. The wind was awful. I think the headwind I had to ride into on the way home was about 25 mph. What a workout! Still did my usual 33 mile ride. :)
My neighbor came out to talk with me as I was leaving for my ride. I think he's in his early 40s. He asked where I rode to, how many miles, etc. He said he rode when he was younger. I asked him to think about buying a road bike and joining me. Who knows??? |

10/12 25 miles 10/13 50 miles 10/15 64 miles Today’s ride: Great ride today with my friend Dick Davidson. Rode to Panera for the usual breakfast (muffin and a coolie). From Panera we headed out to the horse farms then headed for home. Very cloudy and cool today, temps were in the mid 60s when we left this morning and high 70s when we got back. We started riding at 6 AM and the trail was already crowded with runners even at that early hour. yes we did. Just a little over 10 miles @ the Withlachochee Bay Trail. Great weather. We left there and went over near the Inglis Lock area and rode the mbs near the Barge Canal. Not far but first time I've been on dirt since the surgery and I was a little uneasy so we didn't go far.
Found a video on the Withlachochee Bay trail and thought I'd share it. It's one of my favorites for scenery. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUlLxbltKdo ps...Ron- nice bike!! |
Thanks. I'm enjoying it. :D
Great news about you hitting the W Bay Trail, although not literally. ;) Did my regular 33 miler yesterday on the Felt. No spectacular fall pictures. The drought has really done a number of the trees and foliage. Everything is going from green to brown. Many smaller trees and bushes has died from lack of rain. :( |

Yep.. Finally got out for a ride. The plan was to ride to the post office and then hit the 2 mile loop trail through the Carl Duval State forest land. (on the 29'er) .. On the way back from the post office I hit the trail. There were quite a few downed trees and limbs that I could not ride over. I guess the ranger has not got out there yet to clear the trail after all of the storms the past week. I did a couple of loops and headed back towards home. I even stopped and picked all of the picker tube puncturing burs out of my tires before I got back on the road. I got about half way home and got a flat. NOT from a bur though... from a really small sharp shard of brown glass. Called for a ride about 2 miles from the house.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=223414 BTW .... Nice bike ron... really nice.. Linda ... Good to see you getting back out there. WAY more drive and determination than I have right now... |
Sorry about the flat. I can't believe you called for a ride. No spare tube or patch kit and tools in the saddle bag? ;)
Did some comparisons between the Felt and the Litespeed. Make some adjustments on the Litespeed and did a test ride today on my usual 33 mile route. Everything felt good except I realized after all these years that the drop and reach on my handlebars is much greater than it is on the Felt and also greater than it was on the Specialized. Guess I'll be shopping for new bars (Easton EA70?), stem, seatpost, and a few more items. The Litespeed is 10+ years old so its time for some TLC. :) Maybe I'll upgrade it from 9 speed to 10 speed some day. |

10/17 50 miles
10/19 18 miles 10/20 50 miles Today’s ride: Great ride today with Jim and Dick. The temp was 53 degrees when we left and 62 when we got back. Rode to Panera for breakfast (cranberry orange muffin, oatmeal raisin cookie and coffee this morning) then on to the horse farms. Did the Spring Oaks loop with Jim when we got back. My friend from Ohio is back for the winter, and we ran into him at Mandarin on our trip home so, we will have another riding partner. As we were riding home I passed this guy backing this contraption out of a driveway. Wonder how much money he has invested in this machine? Did my usual ride today (33 miles). Cool weather has hit the southeast :( so I had to get out the arm and knee warmers, base layer undershirt, smartwool socks, and full finger gloves. How long is it until April?

Nice ride today out on the mountain bikes @ the Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area. Went north on the levee about 5 miles and discovered back tire had a slow leak. Hubby pumped it up but decided we should turn around and head back. Perfect weather for riding. No wildlife sightings this time.
