New to Jacksonville

Hi! I just moved to Jax from the Fort Lauderdale area to attend UNF. Any group rides? Cool routes or trails? Good/bad places to ride through? Good/bad shops? Any bike co-ops (does anyone know if the Zombie Co-Op is still around?) or other opportunities to be active in the bike scene? Anything else I should keep in mind?

Nice people. My son and his family live in Jacksonville and I have ridden with some of their rides. A lot more places to ride then Ft Laurderdale, enjoy!

Zombie Bikes, to my knowledge is no longer around. Although if you want to link up with that scene check out Burro Bags. Burro Bags have a shop in downtown Jax where they make and sell messenger bags amongst other bike related gear. I feel confident they can point you in the right direction. Burro also opened a new bar called Burro Bar, it's worth checking out.

There is a midnight mass ride every thursday night. Pretty sure they still meet at the Cummer Museum parking lot.

Definitely check North Florida Bicycle Club for group rides.

Good riding down through Ponte Vedra, Amelia Island, Green Cove Springs. I'm a road cyclist in Jax; feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hey, me too

I'm going to be in Jacksonsville for the next 6 months and was wondering about all of the above as well as commuting by bicycle - would I be taking my life in my hands? I'll be working at Shands hospital.

Have you ridden the Jacksonville-Baldwin Trail or the Lehigh Trail in Palm Coast?
