Darn, If I woulda known! I thought we were way behind everybody. I prolly would have rode with you if I knew there was someone else back there. I thought everybody would be gone by the time we got there, or the riders would be heading back. Sounds like they were there for a while though!

Gina was only ahead cause she cheated and took an hour headstart. She waited at the shack for me. I was planning on a 10-15 minute wait, but she was there 30 minutes before me. I must be getting old.

Random stuff I picked up from the nearby Performance store:

Sleeveless jersey
Joe Blow Sport floor pump

And great link to the Bell Sweep R helmet - I've been watching that helmet on Ebay as I've been wearing my mtn bike sans visor since I'm a newbie, but I just might pull the trigger on that Amazon one!

Me. Well, sort of. I'm in the process of converting a 1980s Torelli road bike I've had in the garage for a while to a FIXIE!

So, new wheel, hub, etc., basically resulting in a new bike. Should be ready to roll next week. I'd post pictures, but after seeing the shockingly awesome fixies here on BF, I'm a bit reluctant.

I'm hoping this bit of insanity will make me into a stronger rider.

I put this together this weekend. My fork probably weighs more than most of your bikes.

I also bought some vredstein tri-comps for the other bike.

Oh, U.S.E. Alien seatpost for the Sachs and a used F3 fork for the Ottrott frame I got in trade for my Kirk frameset.

Giordano Tenax bibs and a random s/s jersey from Bicyclebuys.com (good price on the Giordanos I thought).
Performance grand opening in Pasadena -- stocked up on some GU gels (2 for 1).

Just received new Ritchey WCS Classic Road Bars and Ritchey Pro Road Stems for both of my Looks. Rode with ITM anatomic bars for three years and decided that I prefer classic "round" bars to anatomic. Will change out the bars and re-tape during my "time-out."

I just ordered a BIG can of Cytomax. My first one. Smart to buy a HUGE one before trying it, huh?

I got the tropical punch flavor, or something like that. I can't stand my Clif powder anymore (apple flavor, they say). I bought it primarily because the label says "with caffeine."

My most recent buy is a 24-pack box of Carboom strawberry and kiwi gel (1st time; fuel for the past GMR ride). To me, it tastes like stale fruits and has the same effect as drinking regular milk to this lactose intolerant guy...

I'd like to amend the above. One of the damned Ritchey pedals came OFF THE SPINDLE while I was riding last night!!

Back to Performance they went. The guys at the store were staring in disbelief as I casually pulled the platform off the spindle. They were decent about taking a web-bought item back at the store.

So I'll update my purchase by changing the pedals to some Look Keo Sprints from pro bike kit. Plus some extra cleats w/ covers, while I was at it. I hope other's good luck ordering from overseas carries over to my order!

New gear lust and the waiting to get them shipped.... what a feeling!

I'll most likely have another new toy to post this evening. I'm heading over to the new Performance in Pasadena to return my new floor pump before heading over to the Rose Bowl. I'll find something else to buy with the refunded money...
