They are alright. Not real fast though. I bought em for mt biking since Im in the redwoods there are alot of quick transitions and I find clear or yellow lenses to be much better. These are alright for road, but are not dark enough for my liking. I use them more seasonally now. In winter when the sun is not directly over head they are nice.

I'm at work, so can't comment on how the impactx transitions. One thing for sure though; it doesn't go clear. Still a little smoky after having it in an opaque sleeve for a while.

Just found out I can still see my LCD watch/cyclo-computer through the polarized lense at the normal angle; and blocks it at exactly 90 deg. I guess there's some sort of industry standard for the polarization of displays and glasses so that they don't conflict.

Zero Gravity brakes. Yay or nay? The prospect of cutting out a quarter pound just in brakes is sounding rather appealing.

Go for it! I was staring at SirLance's Zero rear caliper through most of Grand Tour Lite....:D

jschen 10-12-06 01:47 PM

I'm seriously considering it. Especially with the prospect of getting them from certain places blowing them out at the moment.

Ti. I'm thinking brakes, seatpost, stem, bars in this round of upgrades, as previously planned. But for various reasons considering pushing up some or all of these purchases. But I need to research the parts I want and decide what stuff I trust. For example, assuming I could find them, would I really trust the absurdly light M2 Racer parts? I don't know.

I'd skip M2, since they're out of business. They have light skewers, but they don't have QRs. Definitely no one-piece bar/stem for you, right?

If you mount all of them on including the wheel magnets, you'll go 4x faster! :D

Yeah... I'd skip M2 too, But that's just an extreme example. There's plenty of other somewhat suspect stuff out there. No bar/stem combo for me. The slight weight savings isn't worth the lack of adjustability. If I had to pick right now, my choices would be as follows:

ZeroGrazity Ti brakes
Thomson Masterpiece seatpost
Zipp bars (the SL version)
undecided stem (Ritchey WCS? Easton EC-90? Zipp?)

I have 2..one is the Flight Deck that I got when I bought the bike and I added a cateye cause it does altitude....both use the same mag sensor...
What am i missing??
HRM?

roadfix 10-12-06 02:55 PM

I usually rely on others to tell me how far I've ridden...:p

lol! my edge... and because it messed up on 2 important rides on me... i have a back up wired cateye for just basic info and mileage should it ever happen again... ("funny" thing is.... it hasn't messed up since having the cateye!)

and my polar f11 for calories.... the edge is known for WAY overstating calories... and as you've read... i'm a stickler for calories... so i wear my f11 to get more "realistic" calories....

If you use a heart rate monitor, ya need a hard wire computer (not wireless). My HR monitor has a computer, but it goes off and on through the entire ride so it is a useless bike computer. I hate clutter on my bike, I think it looks best with little to nothing on it. Generally I get info from other rider, but when I do a training ride, it sure helps to have the info.

Oh I can relate to that...its the one thing I hate about the Flight Deck..the control buttons are in the hoods...so it is possible to hit them when your hands are in a certain position and 0 everything out...
Did that coming out of rest stop 4 at Cool Breeze during my first century...I was so mad....lost avg. mileage everything...of course now I am constantly aware of where my hands are in relation to the buttons.. and so far haven't done it again!
h

caligurl 10-12-06 03:32 PM

and i'm a total slave to the mileage on big rides (as in... it's X number of miles to the next rest stop!) fortunately the one time i was close to the end... but i was REALLY irked i didn't have any real ride data other than mileage... cuz it was mulholland and KOM ride number 1! i REALLY wanted that info!

ZG's are great if PROPERLY adjusted
Thomson is what I have and it is solid as the day is long.
Zipp? I know nothing about there bars
Stem Ritchey is one of the lightest for the price.
