You've done a great job Shai, it would be a real shame if the club doesn't adopt/incorporate the information onto the 'real' website.
My $ 0.02, the argument about only wanting us riding the promulgated routes is moot anyway. Several groups within the club already do organise 'renegade rides' which are mostly standard club routes or minor variations on the theme. Normally they kick in when the web posted rides are perhaps not considered tasteful enough, or maybe 'we already did the Rose Bowl twice this month',or sometimes the weather dictates a reason to not do a particular route. Whatever the reason, if we can already pick and choose the routes we want to ride, and no-one is apparently being hurt or getting upset, where's the foul in what you are proposing ?

Shai, nice job. I just looked at a few routes using MS maps with no problems.
I like it.

Great work Shprung. I really like seeing this information. I hope you will continue your route map & elevation work. Not knowing the makeup or atmosphere of the SFVBC board, but as a new member I would hope to see growth. With out growth things tend to dry up and fall away. With regards to the club’s posted rides for a particular upcoming date they could limit your link to those rides and not show ALL at once. How could this be harmful?

+1
I totally agree... great site...thanks for the work you did on this...it is awesome...I love to see elevation data and it is very helpful for longer rides...
I hope the SFVBC realizes how much this benefits the membership...as a soon to be new member I am hoping they take this into consideration.
I dont see why they cant use this great stuff and only display the upcoming rides as they do now...
Also I hope they fix the pdf view function...it seems I can only save...and have tried this on multiple computers...could be some incompatibility with IE7??

Great idea Shprung, the map gives me a much better idea of where we might be going than those route slips.
And of course elevation is key information for any ride. Thanks

Ok, I guess it is time that we change the SFVBC board. I nominate Big John, Vertical Bob, Vance, Cathy and Steve.

Fun rides and pool/beach parties weekly ? :)

Everyone gets an allotment of self-depricating remarks. It's just that you've used all yours up. :p

As long as you guys like the idea, I will keep routing routes as they 'allow' us to see the PDF. and yes, they tried to make the PDF more secure so no one can simply link to them. By doing it, it messed up the way the browser get the file, and many told me they can no longer print it.
I usually route level 2 and 3 (and the Sunday 'race' level-1), but if someone want me to route other just let me know.
The 'next' version will include the route name too.
If you can think of more features/toys let me know. IfI have time (and it is too late to ride) I can do it :-)

Well that explains why I can only save now...lame....
I hope to meet you on one of the Sunday rides...
Thanks for all the great work you did on this!! Very Cool!!

Big T is getting the most hits for this Saturday, anybody doing it?

The VB ride went that way last Saturday, it was pretty nice.

I worked on the site some more; Now, you can see the ride name and elevation gain in the main page. You can filter the list to show only rides you are intrested in.
Check it out...

(I didn't entered the name for all routes yet; soon... all will be there)

Way Cool!!!

I didn't realize you had to manually enter the names, I thought maybe you could pick them up from SFVBC's site.

But this is a very useful implementation.

Unless my dad wants to do a ride around his area, I think I'm going to ride to the start, then do the first half of the group 1 ride back to my house. This will be my first ride away from the bike path loop since the knee problem.

Cassave 03-23-07 09:04 AM

Anybody going to Fargo st?

I think I'll ride straight to Traveltown from home for the 9:00 AM remote start.
I put a 34 rear cog on the bike for a 30.7" gear. Might even make it up with that, we'll see.

Is anyone doing the ride that starts at CSUN that goes to Fargo and back? Otherwise I'm just going to meet herb+people at Riverside/Vict

I'm leaning toward going. My lowest gear is a 39x29, so I'll probably have to tack.
