Really wish we would've ridden with you guys instead of the Mardi Gras century. Mardi Gras was definitely not as much fun as its name would imply!!

We shoulda just bailed on the ride and joined you when we saw you guys ride past us. As m.e. said, the company was great but the ride left a lot to be desired.

valleygirl 02-26-07 10:28 AM

Oh dear , do I look dopey or what. From now on when I see a camera I'm going to run and hide my face
or maybe I'll ride with a Burka on .

ValleyGirl and John:

Thanks. I definitely plan on riding with all of you again. I'll check this subforum, and sfvbc.org, for future rides.

urbanknight 02-27-07 10:38 AM

Anybody having trouble opening the routes? I can't get any of them to open.

VanceMac 02-27-07 10:41 AM

Working fine for me. Did you click over to "March"?

urbanknight 02-27-07 04:14 PM

Yeah, my work computer might not like them so I'll try at home.

Mt. Gleason

Anyone up for Mt. Gleason this Saturday? 80 miles, 8000ft. I'm doing B.A. preview soon gotta climb. It's beautiful up there and the weather is supposed to be nice. I usually take A.C. to A.F. but you can always take Big T as well. 8am in Glendale. V.B.

VanceMac 02-28-07 08:32 PM

Hey Bob... "Angeles Forest Frolic" is the long ride on the club schedule this Saturday. Let's plan to cross paths somehow?

merider1 02-28-07 09:38 PM

I'm jealous...:( ...sort of. I'm going to "miss" the climbing, but I think a flat, easy ride is better anyway. You boys have fun and be safe. Bob, I still would like to join Sunday over the hill to Rose Cafe and back if you don't do Big Tujunga. :)

I wish that could happen Vance but the Frolic is in Green Valley off of Bouquet and the ride through Santa Clarita is not one I enjoy. Mt. Gleason is in the San Gabriels away from traffic, past Hidden Springs. Kinda opposite ends of the Angles Forest. I'll get you guys up there some day.

Ah, I see. And I agree with you...

The weather says windy tomorrow. How does the wind compare in the Mt. Gleason area.

I think he's going up Angeles Crest to Angeles Forest, the up to Mill Creek Summit. You remember the wind up there the last time we did 2 Tujungas? I think I'll just go to CSUN and figure it out then.

VanceMac 03-02-07 06:13 PM

Ouch, the wind forecast just keeps getting worse. Looks pretty dicey no matter which way we go. Malibu and Pasadena are a touch better, but not much. 30mph almost everywhere by around 1pm.

valleygirl 03-02-07 07:16 PM

I'll be a CSUN tomorrow too , see ya all.

I'm going up the sheltered A.C. side and see what its like. A.C. is never too bad for wind. Last month when I went up there [Gleason] I had a tail wind up Angeles Forest. Guess you guys will end up at the Rose Bowl huh.

VanceMac 03-03-07 08:17 PM

Where did y'all end up riding today? I headed out with a small group (Bruce, Marc D., Steve P., and Joel) who went from Santa Monica down to San Pedro and back in a successful attempt to avoid wind. I much prefer the SM mts, but this was a nice alternative for something a little different.

Howdy Vance, I rode Mulholland , Little Syc, Yerba, Cotharin, Deer Creek, PCH, Encinal, Mulholland, STUNT, and Mulholland. 10,800ft. Tail wind out , headwind home. Could it be any other way?
Are you doing Breathless Agony?

big john 03-03-07 09:59 PM

Vance, we did the 60 mile Rose Bowl ride. Big group, nice pace with some hammering, especially toward the end. The first time I haven't felt sick in almost a month.

VanceMac 03-03-07 10:23 PM

Hey, does that mean you're "back", John? Your harem will have to pick up the pace! I've been sick the past 7 days, but I think it's finally subsiding. I can't imagine how depressing it was to be sick for a month like that.

Bob -- yes, I'm doing the 3 KOM rides.

big john 03-04-07 08:16 AM

Lingering sicknesses have been part of winter for years, might have to do with all of the abuse I've heaped on myself, plus working outside, poor diet, etc. So if I'm back, back to what? My old, fat self! I would like to do some climbing rides again, maybe next week.
