I owe you for that. I was pretty much toast by that point, and was going to take it easy on Mureau. But then I thought about all the smack talk I would hear from you if I let you pass me. So you get the gold star today for providing the good workout. ;)

Oh the guy you tried to hang with on Santa Sue is named Jim, not Rick. He, like Steve, is an animal on the hills. If you can just keep him in sight, you are doing good.

While this forum-topic should be soon rename to ovo & vance, I have no other place to put some SFVBC photo from todays 3 harbor`s century. A large group of sfvbc came, I got a photo of some.

I am very happy because no fast rider came... and there are so many of you that are much faster than me; yet, I finished 1st the 102 miles! (18.5 mph avg speed; took me 5:30 ride time)

VanceMac 07-07-07 04:13 PM

Awesome job, Shai. That's quite a fast time! And many familiar faces there... give us a full-fledged ride report!

Thanks, but you know (and I know too) that the only way for me to be as fast as you is if you quit the sport :)
I suck in "reports", but I did reply to the same request here

We need to get more sfvbc riders to write here in BF, I am sure you will get nice reports (and more photos)

Anxious to hear how the crew up at AC made out today... but right now, off to get some margherita pizza at Buca!

ovoleg 07-07-07 04:48 PM

Oh ya sorry, I looked at his bike too, it said Jim Robb on the top tube. It's a NICE bike, too bad they had that spoke issue.

I attempted to make the club ride but could not find the exit for Nordhoff, apprently I was on the wrong highway. I was on the 5 and not the 405. It said Sacramento.

Going to attempt to make the Monday morning ride.

ovoleg 07-07-07 05:22 PM

come out tomorrow :)

The ride up AC was down right amazing. Sarah, John, Bob and I starting a few miles from Newcombs and Kieth, White carbon Dude, Thomson and Adam started from the bottom. We all went to Wrightwood loaded up on food and headed back. It was a little hot in places , but overall the weather was great. With all that new pavement the descents are fast and smooth. I love it! The only downside was that a rather loud and rusty rock band was playing at Newcombs.

wow sounds like fun!!

Adam??? Did I miss Adam? Sorry

I didn't stop at Newcomb's on the way back, just kept rolling so I missed your favorite band.

I agree with everything you said, the pavement is so great to ride. However, I still should compare it to dropping an anvil on my foot to see which is really better. Gotta get on that.

I'm going to vote Anvil. No personal experience but I think we should all do something once :)

DROPE THE HAMMER!!

valleygirl 07-07-07 07:27 PM

Yeah, that anvil. Adam was the young guy in blue who caught us at Grassy Hollow. At least I think his name is Adam . Maybe you didn't stop there

Drope the Anvil

Oh ok, no I didn't stop at all on the way back. Sorry I missed him.

Adam was descending into Wrightwood as we were climbing out. He pulled into Grassy Hollow as we were finishing a short break there. He rode with Keith back to Newcomb's where he slammed 2 cokes and headed off to Mt. Wilson to get an extra 1100 feet. Keith and Jon copped a ride in the car back to the bottom from Charlton. No fries for you this time? I had some, yum.

Those fries are great!! But I fueled pretty well in Wrightwood. I think the Hostess cupcakes did the trick.
btw, the ice water I put in the CamelBak stayed cold the whole way. There were still cubes in the end. I love jamming the CamelBak with ice.

OK, I did see Adam going the opposite way just as we were leaving Wrightwood. I assumed he was a Wrightwood local. He must have been really moving!! And he did all the climbs in more heat than we did. Awesome ride.

I think we should jam the oft mentioned anvil in your CamelBak. Then maybe I could keep up with you.:D

big john 07-10-07 07:28 AM

Vance, if you're not going to Redlands, what are you doing Saturday?

VanceMac 07-10-07 07:57 AM

Don't know John, what are the options? I am probably too late to get in on the Redlands ride, anyway.

ovoleg 07-10-07 12:42 PM

This Saturdays ride is going to be nice Vance, you should come out again :)

There is a remote PV ride, I might just go to CSUN, though.

ovoleg 07-10-07 01:38 PM
