No, but I thought I wanted to be. I was in a phd program for history of science. Fun stuff.

You look so familiar(in your picture where you used to weigh as much as I do now). I can't put my finger on it though :(

Vance, go to CSUN, its much more entertaining to ride with you :D

Well, Sarah and Cathy are at the Death Ride, VB is going to Redlands, and Thomson is probably tired of the ride. I might be talked into it, depending on who else will go.

urbanknight 07-10-07 10:05 PM

I'm going to see if I am up to longer rides this week (climbed up Sepulveda and came down Coldwater today with no problems. Anybody doing the Simi 48 mile ride or the PV 53?

Cassave 07-12-07 10:23 AM

Simi? Again? NO!

Nothing from the college looks great.
I think I'll go up the coast and maybe Mulholland back.
Saturday, start from the Commons at 8:00.

Any takers?

ovoleg 07-12-07 10:44 AM

simi is getting old :(

How far and how much climbing? I'm on the rise but trying not to overdo it.

I was thinking, over Old Topanga to PCH to Neptunes Net, back to Leo Carrillo then back on Mulholland
to Calabasas. What's that? 65, 70 maybe. Lots of earlier bailouts like Malibu Cyn, but once you're over on PCH you're committed to a climb of some kind just to get back.

mkadam68 07-12-07 02:43 PM

Keep me appraised, too, as I'm interested.

ovoleg 07-12-07 03:23 PM

I'll do w/e ride from the college but I hope it doesn't go through Simi :(

Yea, a lot of those club routes are getting very stale. I might be interested in doing this with you -- even though I hate PCH, and even though it's pretty much what I did last week, solo, while chasing your ghost. :p

Steve, I'll send out an e-mail to some club members to see if there is interest.

ovoleg 07-12-07 10:06 PM

let me know if you guys are doing that, sounds better than simi for sure

Hmmm, maybe I'll start with you guys and plan on taking a bailout route. I'm only sure to be good for about 1500' of climbing over 2 hours, but I have to meet my parents in Agoura by noon anyway. I'll play around on routeslip and see what I can come up with.

ovoleg 07-12-07 10:19 PM

You can do it Brian!! Come out and ride :)

Shprung 07-12-07 11:48 PM

I am sick all week. It kind of scary because in the last 8 month, every week I ride 3-4 times a week for more than 150 miles a week, and this week for the first time I only have the 44 I did Sunday to my credit.
If I will feel better, I will only be good for 20-30 miles and probably will end in CSUN with level 2 (or even 1)
( But I am soooo wick that my wife probably will not even let me leave the house ).
Ovo, very nice report on the Reseda climb, and I think you are doing VERY well with a new PB every week.

So far, the only taker is Carrie, and some of my friends are doing the remote start MDR ride. A lot of people are out of town. I'll decide later.
Shai, what are you afraid of? Do you think you will lose too much fitness from being sick, or are you worried about being too sick? If it's the first one, don't worry. Get well and your fitness will bounce right back. That will only be a problem when you are old like me.

mkadam68 07-13-07 08:28 AM

Hey, where is shprung's maps of all the club rides with elevation, etc... I've lost the link.

Lot's of variation possible.
We could climb Rock Store, then down to PCH on Kanan to cut out the PCH thru Malibu junk.

Doesn't look like it will be a large group (or any group at all) so improvisation
should be easy.

Shai - get well

mkadam68 07-13-07 11:19 AM

Gimme a rundown on the list of ridrs for the PCH ride. I like to go w/large groups. AND it's been awhile since I've done Santa Sue, so I might do the Simi Valley ride just to compare, see what kind of climbing shape I'm in these days.

As of 4:30 Friday nobody has lined up for this one.
I'll swing by the Corner Bakery at the Commons a few minutes before 8:00 tomorrow to see
if there's any interest.

See y'all Sunday at the college

ovoleg 07-13-07 05:34 PM

Simi eh.

Steve: from Big John's e-mail, at least Randy, Carrie, and Bill are interested. Maybe Big John himself? I am interested and trying to get Mario on board. And above, at least 3 people expressed interest. Seems like it could gain some traction, no?
