Yes, -3% of course. lol. j/k

From where Sepulveda goes under the 405 (~valley vista) to the entrance to the tunnel is 2.2mi with 561 ft gain, for 4.82%. That last little pitch at the end hits 10%, but only for about 1/5 mile.

[QUOTE=merider1;498164 You're looking at 100+ with 10K feet or more of climbing, aren't you? :o[/QUOTE]That's what it is starting at Red Box. From the bottom it's about 125 with 13k+

Does anyone know what is the ride that leaves CSUN during weeknights? I heard it was a fast-paced ride. With all the recent flap over the Rose Bowl, I might go here instead.

Is it on Tuesday/Thursday nights? What time and where does it meet on campus?

Agoura Corridor ride

Is anyone up for the Agoura Corridor ride (62 miles) leaving from CSUN this coming Saturday ? I ride a Giant TCR and have been attending the club rides regularly for the past 2 months. I'm still a newbie trying to learn the foundamentals of cycling. Thanks for recommending this site Shai.

ovoleg 08-02-07 03:05 PM

Dude Shai is a scumbag don't listen to him!!!

VanceMac 08-02-07 04:53 PM

Welcome Dasa. Several of us will be out on the Angeles Crest ride this week, but you should find plenty of takers for that Agoura ride at CSUN.

And, as is probably obvious, just ignore Ovoleg. :)

Anybody else have a problem opening up the sfvbc.org pdf ride files? I get a "There is an Error with this file. The file does not exist" message. Happens to me most times I try to access the files, but occasionally I do get through. Acrobat works well on most other applications.

Is there a trick I should be using?

VanceMac 08-02-07 05:17 PM

Odd, just worked for all the rides I went to -- in Firefox. But just on a whim, I tried in Explorer, and I got blank pages most of the time.

AkAk2000 08-02-07 05:24 PM

Ahhhh! Browser specific glitches. Thanks, Vance.

AkAk2000 08-02-07 05:34 PM

Vance,

I fiddled around, and found that when you click on the pdf file, it doesn't seem to tell your computer to open up your Adobe reader so that the file can be loaded and read. The reader has to be open first, and then the files seem to load.

Hopes this helps anyone else who has the same problem.

Dasadasa, I will be in CSUN this weekend and most likely will do the level-4 (ride # 857). It looks like a nice ride with 3100ft; not like the 10k some of us planning for this weekend.
Not sure what beef Ovo got with me, but then, maybe its because I kick his ass in the last two rides when he just get so dead in the end of the ride (while during the ride he is stronger than me...).

ovoleg 08-03-07 07:02 AM

We love Shai, but giving him a hard time only makes him stronger.

With age comes experience, intelligence, and endurance. Ovo, however, might never grow up.

I won't see you guys until after I move in about a week. Try not to have TOO much fun without me.

ovoleg 08-03-07 08:22 AM

Whateverz n00bs I will grow up when I break 15mins on Reseda. I'm giving it a go again today. 3x maximum effort today.

Are you starting at Wells Drive? That's 2.7 miles, 700 feet elevation for each pass. 4.9% grade (a little over 8% at the end).

Ya the first little portion is kinda flat I dont really consider that much more than a flat sprint so when I ge to the hill I am already feeling pain.

Where do you get these profiles?

It's painful, some people say mountain gate is 20%, but this sometimes feels very close to that, I'm not sure on the grade profiles though, feels harder than 8% relatively speaking.

VanceMac 08-03-07 11:19 AM

Bikely.com is my favorite. Routeslip.com is pretty nice, as well.

Without measuring either, I am quite sure Mountain Gate is much steeper than Reseda.

Many years ago, there was a Mountain Gate Century. It started one mile from the top. You started at the bottom and went up and down 50 times. They touted it as the only support century with a rest stop every mile. The few years I had heard about it, I don’t think anyone ever finished it. Anyone else remember this or am I seeing things again? <checking medication>

ovoleg 08-03-07 12:17 PM

I've went up Mountain gate and I KNOW it is steeper but it doesn't feel THAT much steeper, feels like 2-5% steeper at most.

I'd like to do a Mountain Gate Century, that sounds like fun...Although I would like new brakes before and after :)

VanceMac 08-03-07 12:33 PM

Looks like Mt Gate is 1 mile @ 10%.

Is that why it took you an hour? ;)

The main section of Latigo is ~6 miles at 6.6%. With the steepest section at 12%.

fyi, some info on local climbs at the La Grange site: http://www.lagrange.org/local_climbs.htm

that "steepest" section is that one 180' turn you make. 6.6% maybe, it feels ALOT easier than Reseda. I can spin 70-80 pretty easily in 2nd to lowest gear on Latigo, on Reseda it hurts bad to spin above 75 in the lowest gear after the gate. I don't know I'm doing this by guesstimates but your software is kinda garbagy because it doesnt really account for turns too well.

There is no WAY Fargo is 20%+ then, because double as bad as Mountain Gate is impossible.
