Stella is a Veiled Chameleon.

She is about 8 months old... shes a bit mean while you remove her from her cage... but she'll sit on your hand or climb onto your head if you just let her do her thing. Her goal is to find the highest spot she can climb.

Ill get those salt stains on my helmet straps... :o

Does she bite? She really is a gorgeous creature. I'm fascinated with lizards and am always trying to catch them when I hike.

LOL. She'll bite... but it doesn't hurt. She had Metabolic bone disease (didn't get enough UVB lighting at a young age so her bones and muscles became weak) she is recovering/recovered from it kinda but she isn't as strong as a healthy female might be. I have heard a healthy male will hurt you from holding onto your skin while you hold them. They have sharp claws but they don't intentionally grab hard to hurt you. Just a warning to anyone interested in a chameleon... they require a TON of work and money(I'm not rich by ANY means of the imagination...). A chameleon can prolly run you about 500-700 in setup charges... and then the lizard itself is about 100 dollars. but they are very very pretty as they age. and well worth the work. Showing off a healthy chameleon is gratifying because of how much work they require. Stella is still in the works... but getting there.

Paul took the kids for a hike through El Moro yesterday. They had a great time and even Tara managed to walk most of the 5ish mile route. Kyle woke up this morning asking why his butt was so sore. :roflmao:
