Until I was 8ish...I'm waiting for Avery's to get dark like mine finally did. It seems like the underside is darkening up now, but from the top she's even lighter from being outside in the sun all the time.

Funny, I wrote this without thinking. I was actually born in the san fernando valley (woodland hills), but moved up north a few years after that, where I lived until the mid-80s. So "norcal from birth" isn't exactly true.

Born and raised in Upper Michigan. Three years in Atlanta, two years back in Upper Michigan, year and a half in north central Massachusetts, and then Palmdale for the last 16 months.

Then moved around in LA county ( Pasadena, Glendora, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Montclair,

Then moved to OC 9 years ago.

Born in upstate NY and spent kindergarten through high school on Long Island (or Longuyland for the rest of you native New Yorkers). Went to college in NY and moved to SoCal in 1979 just before I turned 22. Been here ever since.

Both of my sons were born in LB and will probably graduate from high school in LB unless something extraordinary occurs.

My wife is also a native New Yorker (we met at the Manhattan Beach GP) but she won't live anywhere but SoCal.

I went to the beach more growing up in NY than I have living in SoCal. The Atlantic off of NY is warmer during the summer than the Pacific is here.

I didn't consider this...both of my parents are from SoCal and my Grandmother on my mom's side was born in Bakersfield but I think my grandfather is from Utah. Does this make me third generation?

Reminds me of what happened to me when I did an exchange program(me) in Sheffield, England in college. I got off the train and saw a "University of Sheffield" table and went to talk to them to see how to get to the university. There were two people at the table.

me: Hey, I'm supposed to be here for an exchange program.
guy a: We're international students too. I'm from Italy. Where are you from?
me: California.
guy b: He has the accent.

Born in La Mirada, CA; spent my first one and one-half years in Whittier. Moved to La Habra for my 2nd birthday and stayed until I grew up and "enjoyed" stints in Chino, Rancho Cucamonga, Buena Park, and back to La Habra (where I still live).

In fact, I currently live in the house next door to the house where I had my 2nd birthday. And yes, my parents still live in that house.
