I know you well enough that it takes you awhile to act... so I guess I'll start asking now (of course not like I haven't been asking for awhile as it is!)

Born Connecticut. Moved to Thousand Oaks when I was 6. Lived in the area (mostly) ever since. Now in Simi Valley. Keep thinking about leaving, but not sure I can do it. Too many pluses about this area.

I just remember everyone by the type of bike they ride or their favorite jersey(s). I did this with my car club, too, remembering which color and modifications everybody had. You became easier to recognize when you started riding your Cinelli

That's part of it. I used to be a sissy getting into cold water. Pool, lake, or ocean.

Makes me feel better. At least I can doggy paddle and tread water.

There's a bikeforums map on Frappr, but not one specific to SoCal.

I wasn't old enough to remember it, but my mom told me that she would see rats running up and down the power lines in the evening. And, on the plus side, having bad AQ means it's hard to get sunburned. Where I am now, if I step outside for an half hour in midday I get lightly toasted.

The rats running on the power lines is pretty common, I've watch it in the older areas in Huntington Beach in the evenings where they still have power lines, but I get your drift.
