Mac, baby.

(Okay, I do use a PC at work...they won't give me a Mac like the science teachers get )

My primary machine is a PC, but find every opportunity to use my Mac. Mac rules ... PC sucks!

Well...I work on PC, as the schmoes at Autodesk don't make AutoCad for MAC. But about 4 years ago, I got one of those R2D2 iMac's for the house. Thinking, "I work on PC all day, I want to come home and dork around in style." I didn't like not having a bunch of buttons and wheels on my mouse...just one big button wasn't enough for me. I also didn't like the OS...it was like trying to relearn how to ride a bike, but with your arms crossed in front of you and pedaling backwards.

I partitioned the drive and tried to install Linux on one partition, but I'm teh suk when it comes to computer tubes and technopronicarily functionalitiness...so I failed at that.

About 2.5 years ago, I thought it would be awesome to have a portable DVD for my kids on trips and such, so instead of a normal person who just gets a portable DVD, I got a Dell laptop with a DVD drive.

Of course, now that computer is our main computer...we've never taken it on any trips, and the iMac is just an old hard drive that has over 2,000 pictures in it.

Does anybody want to buy an iMac off me?...better yet, tell me how to install an operating system that's compatible with my work network and can run Autocad, because my computer here sucks too.

MacOS has the terminal for unix types. Very handy for VFX work.

Apple's pro imaging apps are strong

It also has some very powerful tools for networking, and it comes with the iMac. Things like tcpdump, snmp, ssh, web server (apache), nmap ... that'll take you a couple of hours of downloading on the PC, where you have it at your disposal on the mac. Plus, I find that neooffice (open source app, meaning you can download it free! )can open just about any office document, without needing any conversion tool. Some toy, eh?

I hate NeoOffice. I don't like MS Office much either though. I like TextEdit.

I use PCs because:

- Macs in fact, aren't better looking
- this link crashes Macs but works fine on PCs >> Toporoute <<
- I like software support
- I like Thinkpad notebooks, at least until Lenovo completely ruins them

Well, you both should go on that ride, and see the route for yourself. It's magnificent.
