Stay off the internet? Why? Not everyone on the internet wants nonstop debate or sexual banter...

You mean avoid threads/and or posters that/who are nonstop debate or sexual banter.

That's pretty much what I do...

Oops, our covers have been blown. We need to be more discrete next time.

Actually, it's so we can talk about cycling, but without the mood swings.

Well, just to make sure you're sure, just take it as a given that 99.44% of the time, I'm being facetious.

(one clue -- if I sign 'net name [vp], i'm probably being facetious. if i sign my real name, I'm probably being very serious and speaking from the heart.)

i'm hungry. i need carbs. talking to ME has put me in the mood for some pancakes . . . .

Am I debating? The budgie thread was a long time ago...but actually it's kind of a good example. It got tiresome. And I dropped away, right?

Okay...I'll bite...since I'm "some man"...I'd say 'defensive' isn't the right word, and the simple answer to your question is another question: Can somebody tell me why some women get so defensive when men want to go off and say do a ride together or have a forum just for them?

It's simple discrimination, sexism, elitism, etceteraism.

Ain't no way I could start a ride thread saying, "No women allowed!" - If you want, I can start a thread saying just that...let's see how far it goes, shall we?

Ah well...I just long for the good ol' days when men could have their Guys Night to Play Poker and women could have the Ladies Afternoon Bridge Club...

I did notice you dropped away but popped back up with the Midnight Ridazz debate. My point, Alice, is not to pick on you, but to suggest that everyone who is on any forum, jumps in when it matters to him/her and jokes when he/she is comfortable. In discussing the merits of an all womens forum excluding men, that may work for some women as they don't want/need the man's point of view. But for me, personally, it doesn't work since I do like the X/Y mix with all of the debates (which the women DO have over on TE for sure), the sexaul joking, the juvenile joking and the serious talk about cycling.

no!!! Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!

Edit: Hey!! What happened? I deliberately put this on "on caps" so it WOULD be loud enough. Is there some sort of chaperoning software gadget in operation that automatically edits stuff?

This is no good at all!! My constitutional rights to self-expression are being violated here!! Not to mention my ability to be funny and facetious in the manner of my choosing!!
