Because men have this touching fantasy that we wimmins NEED them -- for entertainment value, if for no other reason -- and if the wimmins can have a fun time without the mens, well, then, it just kind of destroys their raison d'etre, and makes them feel sort of unwanted and useless -- and therefore less manly.
So, they try to start their own "he-man wummun haters clubs," but for some reason, the gals don't seem as interested in crashing into it, as the mens are in crashing into the wimmins only forums, and so it's not as much fun as they thought it would be.

My point, Alice, is not to pick on you, but to suggest that everyone who is on any forum, jumps in when it matters to him/her and jokes when he/she is comfortable. In discussing the merits of an all womens forum excluding men, that may work for some women as they don't want/need the man's point of view. But for me, personally, it doesn't work since I do like the X/Y mix with all of the debates (which the women DO have over on TE for sure), the sexaul joking, the juvenile joking and the serious talk about cycling.
