You're telling me brother! My wife and I paid $6 for a small miso soup...you don't even want to know how much the sushi was!

I wish I knew some of my socal brother has booths, I would have stopped by and said "hi"!

Ah, Vegas. Thanks to anyone who offered rides and/or assistance. In spite of the breakdown and some pretty shady treatment by one mechanic, we were pretty well taken care of by AAA(and Merckx' mom!).

Rough week for sure, but like most things, we can look back and laugh about it. I've never been a huge fan of Vegas, but I always seem to find myself there once or twice a year at least. I think the only thing that has changed due to this trip is that I will never intentionally go there in the hotter months again.

I'll try to come up with a report later tonight or tomorrow. Football is on.

Re: Sushi, We did take one of our vendors to TODAI's, not sure if that spelling is spot on, i.e. all you can eat Sushi (and other Japanese food) at Planet Hollywood, and the food was excellent (and the boss was paying), so no complaints there.

Yes, a few bikeforums.net folks stopped by to say "Hi" including David Wu (WU on bikeforums), plus other double century riders (Lynn Katano), a few Rebels (Jim, Ali, and Karen - who went to get us lunch every day!). Plus I saw a few old friends from when I worked at GT/Riteway (none of whom are forum members to the best of my knowledge).

So that part is great, plus Interbike is good for business, so just because I hate Las Vegas, don't take that to mean I feel the same way about Interbike, because I don't.

It's Vegas man, that's all. Absolutely nothing "makes sense." Sense as we know it in our daily lives is suspended in Vegas. It's like an adults only Disneyland where people go to spend (lose) great sums of money. Sushi in the desert is the least of it!

No worries Asia,
If you like Vegas, you go for it girl!
It's not my kind of place, but obviously it's the right place for millions of folks every year (or month?).
If you love it, then go for it. I'm sure that's why it's there!

I actually LOVE LAS VEGAS I rarely ever go down near the strip. I live on the out skirts of town so I am far enough away from the drama. But of course when family and friends come to town that's the place to be. However when I come home to Fontana I am almost ready to slit my throat with all the darn traffic. I am so happy to get back here somedays you have no idea.

If only they would have Interbike on the outskirts of town, I'm sure I would be much happier!

Getting out of the show, and getting around in the evening/night, the traffic by the strip was really bad too. Not sure about Fontana . . . but I'll take your word for it!

I totally understand but I think the majority would out-rule you. That's why there are so many conventions and such booked on the strip on a regular basis. The lure of the bright lights and slot machines....the free alcohol (to those that drink) and the opportunity to win big (if you gamble).
Driving on the strip is like driving on the 60 during rush hour.

True, no doubt you're right. I'm happy to be in the minority here!

The bright lights and slot machines are no lure for me; the opposite in fact. Plus, even walking through the casinos, the smoke is so thick! Walking by and looking at those people gambling; none of them are smiling, so it sure doesn't look like they're having a good time.

Plus, you don't have to be all that smart to understand that the "opportunity to win big" is remote compared to the opportunity to lose whatever amount you gamble.

Anyway, good to hear you love it, but it's not my kind of place. Now once you get away from the strip and the old down-town and all that, it's fine. I've ridden their century, and it's a great ride with wonderful scenery.

Was it just me or did the Pallazo casino seem smoke free? We parked in the Pallazo parking garage, so walked through it every day.
