Here in the US it's probably JensenUSA however in the long run I think you (and your community) would be better served by your local bike shop (LBS): A) it brings more money to your community, in turn to you as well and B) you can always talk a bike shop down on a price especially now (I know, I'm an LBS owner). Ask them to knock off $150 off of the price and see where it takes you. If it doesn't work there go to the next one, there are a lot of great shops in Ontario.

Good luck and cheers!

$20 cheaper $480 plus GST shipped

I would go the LBS route too.. unfortunately I don't have many options where I live.

Surly has an MSRP policy, why not just get it at your LBS and quit trying to save a few bucks by shopping the internet.

Don't forget Ebay. I see LHT's there fairly often. You don't save much, but you might save $100 for an almost new frame (or complete.) Just a thought.

Bought mine online from Harris Cyclery. US$373, but that was a few years ago.

I just ordered one from bikepartsexpress.com. It was $430, but for a first order on the site, they knock off 10%, so $43 off and only $15 in shipping. Total cost was $402.

In Canada we tend to get charged a lot more than in the US for Surly products. I mean almost double once we pay tax in some provinces, unless your LBS is willing to sell you the bike at close to their cost and hope you gear your with fenders, racks, etc. with them for their profit.

MSRP, as far as I know for the LHT complete (not checked out frame/fork) is 1799 compared to around 1100 in the US. I could easily get it in the US for about 900 new at the right store. I've found it here for about 1500 with tax.

Also, our dollar is on par, or nearly.

I think it's fair to try and save some money now and then.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who noticed. But not just Surly products, pretty much every darn thing that isn't made in Canada. Considering we pretty much only make aerospace products, nuclear reactors, trains and software and the rest is natural resources that means pretty much every consumer good costs more. Now, if we were all buying new subway commuter trains we could get a deal!

Hmm, maybe we should look into a group buy on those trains. Wonder if we could retro-fit 700c tires and convert to pedal power. Subway car touring is starting to sound good.

My LHT was delivered to me last Saturday. I ordered it from my LBS on Thursday. It was in the shop by Friday and I watched as they worked on setting it up. I paid $900.00 for a complete bike. I want them to make money on my sale, and insisted on that point. I want them to be in business two years from now.

Next week I will set an appointment up for them to make the minor adjustments needed and expected for a new bike.
