Arkel GT 54 + REI Quarter Dome T2

I'm considering upgrading my panniers to Arkel GT 54's.

Will the removable tube on the back of an Arkel GT-54 pannier hold a rolled up REI Quarter Dome T2 tent + fly? Will the poles fit in there as well, or do they fit better in the hidden pocket in the rear of the same pannier?

Interesting thought. I fit in my Big Agnes air mattress and the poles from my tent, and that is a snug fit. I had the Arkel tube shortened because for my set up it was floppy.

Yes. That's the size when folded in thirds and rolled with the poles and fly. I was wondering if the tent would pack down and stuff into 5.75" diameter x 24" length with some creative folding and stuffing without the poles and maybe without the fly. It looks like it might fit, but I can't tell for sure without the GT-54 tube. I was hoping someone had already tried it.

You might try contacting Arkel. That tent is about the same size as the popular MSR Hubba Hubba, so they might have tried it. Or, you might contact Adventure Cycling Association b/c I think they sell Arkel bags and MSR tents, so maybe someone in their office has tried it. Can't hurt to ask.
