Bummed Out
I was shooting for my PR at the Riverbluff Sprint in Ashland City, TN this next weekend... BUT... I got an email from the timing company basically saying that they sold off the race to a former employee/RD (as well as Memphis in May and Dragonfly) and that he had pulled the plug on the race. I'm pretty bummed out because that was my 1 PR shot this year. Memphis in May didn't really count since it was a different course... but it's nice to know I did cut time on a longer and slightly more difficult course anyways
.
It looks like my Tri season is over though. My wife just had surgery again (they did it right this time, and got everything fixed), so heading out of town soon is not in the cards. The only close (to Memphis) late-season race that I could find was up at Heber Springs... but it's the day after a metric century ride (my first) and I'm honestly not sure I could handle the hills the very next day...
So... I'm heading into "winter mode" a little early and will continue to try to build my run (may run a 5k or two just for fun), work on building my bike after the Flatlander metric, and do some tinkering on the bike itself.

I only do Sprint Tri's, and slowly. But I feel your pain. A couple of years ago I had bounced back from surgery and on my last bicycle training ride, 2 days before a scheduled Tri, I was hit by a car and injured. Injuries not major, but painful enough to have to back out of the Tri. I can identify with your emotions. Best of luck to you, and best wishes for your wife's recovery.

Thank guys... I just needed to vent a bit. I consider myself a BOBOPer, lol. I haven't finished DFL, but it's been close a time or two. This is my 2nd year, and while I haven't made big performance gains, I have made huge health gains. That and fun often fight for the reason why I do this.
I'm already looking ahead to next year. Hoping Memphis in May doesn't get moved (again) or cancelled so I get a true apples to apples test. Also playing with the idea of finding an Xterra sprint and possibly an Olympic and HM. I may not be fast, but I will have a lot of fun!
