Creatine??

Has anyone here experimented with creatine? I know that it's more for the weightlifters, but I'm wondering if it will help with recovery. At 57 (next month), I'm literally sore all the time. I don't want to jump into it if it doesn't really help with endurance recovery, as I know it may result in water retention in the muscles. I think I'm better when lighter. There's also the hair loss thing I've read about, which was "debunked" by some studies, although I've read threads on other sites where guys have complained about quick thinning once on it. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I've been using it for a few years. I started when I decided I really needed to lift to keep my strength up as I get older (I'm closing in really fast on 62). There's always so many variables in working out and life for me to say whether it helped on recovery. I did perceive it helped in the weight room, which I also felt helped in my strength in the pool and on the bike. I did stop taking it 6 months ago (and stopped lifting), I just started lifting again this week, and will be starting the creatine also.

Mike, thank you. Couple of questions, if you don't mind. What was your dosage and how often? Did you notice any weight gain or hair loss? I'm 5'8 and fluctuate between 165 and 170, depending on what I consume over a few days.

I didn’t have any hair loss at all. My hair did turn more gray when I was on it, but that was correlation not causality.

its hard to tell if there was any weight gain, my weight fluctuates a lot and I had changed roles at work that resulted in a lot of travel (less working out and worse eating). So definitely weight gain, but I’m attributing it to the other changes.

I took a scoop every morning at breakfast, not sure of the dose. I’m dropping my daughter off at college this weekend (go boilermakers). I’ll check when I get home.
