Bikes: Junk, that is why I am here. :-)
I think he is honest about it. He sent me an email that it was sold. I replied back thanking him for a response and he said if the deal falls through, he would contact me.
Can anyone tell me anything about this bike and would it really be worth $500.00? Some post say to stay away from anything that isn't 2000 or newer and others talk about their vintage bike and how they love it. I know nothing about them, so I am asking for your opinions. I found a bike shop in Council Bluffs, by word of mouth in my small town actually. They didn't have any used road bikes in my size, but he has a Jamis Ventura Sport in my size that I can get for around $500.00
Does this sound like a decent deal?

Here's my take. The Jamis is a Sora-equipped bike, which is a serviceable grouppo, but not really race-ready. The Guerciotti would be a keeper even if you decide you love multisport and riding and buy yourself a carbon fiber race rig in the future. That lugged SLX frameset is sweet! I have a newer steel Guerciotti that is a few levels down the scale as far as tubing quality, and it is still an amazing ride.
If it were me, I'd buy the Guerciotti if it fits and is available. Otherwise, keep looking at craigslist, ebay, local classifieds, yard sales, etc.

That Guerciotti is a top of the line vintage Italian racing bike. From the 1 picture, it appears to be from the late '80s or early 90's. Columbus SLX was some of the best Italian tubing of its time. Dura-ace was and is the top of the line Shimano groupset.
The one downside to a vintage bike like that is the downtube shifters. Some people don't like the hassle of reaching down to shift. If they are the older non indexed type it is harder to hit the right gear every time. However, people raced these for years and it is possible to get proficient at it with practice. I have an old Italian racer that I ride a lot. I think that would be a great bike to start with. You can give it to your kid in 20 years when you are ready to upgrade

The Guerciotti is sold, the Fuji is sold, I am going to go look at the Jamis today, and will probably end up spending a lot more money than I really have available, but it is better than not having a bicycle at all.

Incorrect! I have done a crit with sora and would have no problem doing a tri with it. It shifts gears with a thumb button and brifter like campy. It is only for a eight speed but that isn't that big of deal.
I would have bought the Guerciotti, much better resell value and it is probably lighter if not as light as the supper heavy Jamis and sora setup.

Well, all of the used deals fell through. Since I was hours away from anything on craigslist that would fit, I bought the Super Heavy Jamis.
I bought it under MSRP and they are now my Local Bike Shop, even though they are an hour from my house. Good guys to deal with and they came highly recommended by others in the area. 2 years of free tune ups and they were actually nice, compared to the completely different attitude I received from the TREK store.
Now to go ride.

How much is a bike worth?
I'm trying to sell a bike. It is a 'ZIPP 2001' it have durace components, syntace draft bars with shifters at the tip, xlab: brakes, water bottle holders (behind seat), and CO2 canister holder. also, continential 650 wheels and mavic rims. How much should this bike reasonable go for? I would appreciate any help thanks.
