does anyone know how to download straight into WKO+ 3.0 without using device agent? Device Agent has started crashing, and I'm tired of all the steps. I miss the one-click download from WKO 2.
When I click under Tools->Recover Data from PowerTap Standard, it brings up the old download thing that I'm used to, but when I click "Start Download" it gives me the following error.
"An error occured during the download. Training device download is disabled. You must first select a serial port using Training Peaks WKO+ v3.0 Home."
Where the heck is Home? I've looked all over.
Thanks.

Just downloaded one of the newer versions of Golden Cheetah, really cool stuff. Especially the "metrics" section. If anyone here works on it, thank you very much for your continued dedication to this project.
On another note, what is the deal with a negative aerobic decoupling measurement? Does that mean that average heart rate at the same power decreased in the second half of the ride? I've only seen these on really easy rides, so it is probably meaningless.

When you click on download from device, and the window pops open, in the upper right there is a drop down menu for selecting the COM port. Have you selected one? (I'm not on my laptop that has WKO+ so that's all I can remember.)

Background - So a couple weeks ago I had a corrupt athlete file in WKO 3 and had to create a new athlete and reimport all of my data.
I wanted to change my FTP yesterday and when I went to do so, realized that the "effective date" section was unchangable. If I changed my FTP it would change it for every ride spanning back to 1980 (the default effective date that I was unable to change)
Any idea how to fix this or why its happening?

Yeah, that's on device manager. I don't want to use Device Manager. I want to use the old school download straight into WKO.

nOOb here, lots of great info!
Just got a P-tap Elite/Garmin 500; This stuff is great - Data overload !
Question: I read about the "stomp test", I'm guessing it only works with the Saris computer ?
Thanks

As long as you can get a torque reading out of it. I think they number it returns when you do a "calibrate" is the torque. That's how it is with a CinQo (although some additional math is involved)

just got done with a chat with the WKO people since my Device Agent was broken. Full reinstall of both worked.
Apparently there's no way to download directly into WKO 3.0, despite the option under tools that seems to try. You have to use device agent, or Power Agent, or whatever. I let them know I was dissapointed with the new version.

Thanks.
The manual from the Garmin 500 dosn't say much of anything. P-tap assumes you have their head unit.
I looked at the "calibrate" function when I first got it - as I remember it was a big a$$ number. I'll have to look into what units it is ?

So I'm updating the settings and displays on my Garmin 705. My options for displaying power are, among others, "Power" and "Average Power." "Average Power" is the average power over the entire ride. I assume that "Power" as displayed on the Garmin is something like a 3-second rolling average. Is this right? Is there any way to change the number of seconds in the rolling average displayed on a Garmin?
Also, if I understood previous posts correctly, I should be turning on Zero Averaging on the Garmin. Right?

There is instant power, 3 second power, and whole ride average on the Garmin, I use 3 second averaging on mine.
Yes, zero averaging should be on

Can somebody school me on Aerobic Decoupling? I understand what it is and the implications it has on your fitness. But when is it applicable to look at the aerobic decoupling from a ride. I was under the impression that it was only really applicable for steady rides where a constant power or constant hr is maintained (or at least tried to be maintained). But a teammate tonight disagreed saying that it is applicable depending on how you rode.
For example, on tonight's team ride, which was filled with attacks, surges and a cool down + warm up, my aerobic decoupling was 17.20%. I know that this is very high. But is the number artificially inflated because of all the surges?

It's really only useful for steady state aerobic efforts. Generally I look at it like this: ride at a steady power, hr goes up = bad, hr goes down = good.

I'm not necessarily talking about riding at threshold... I often do isopower rides at tempo, or just below, and notice that my HR starts out fairly high (for the power), but drops steadily as I get warmed up. It may continue to drop slowly for the same power for an hour or two, then stabilize. Eventually, as I get tired, the HR will start to creep back up. That is reflected in the decoupling figures. Decoupling just means that the power and HR "lines" diverge. A negative number means that either HR is dropping for the same power, or power is increasing for the same HR, or some combination of the two. A positive numbers means the opposite.
