Wow. Elev12000 that Koga Miyata frame looks nice! Plus without and bits on it you can build it to suit - I get remorse if I want to change anything. I am going to get new wheels, but stay 7 speed and keep the existing LX group. I got this bike a few years ago and used it as a lunch rider and commuter, all the while going through different bikes to find a fast trail bike. Even have a 29er frame in a box. When I bought this Miyata I bought it big, it fits me more like a road bike, and I love the cockpit on it. It is almost identical to my main road bike in dimensions. However I put some 2.1 fast MTB tires on it (Love these Ritchey Speedmax) and road it on my local fire-trails and this bike smokes! Well having the tires running pretty high PSI helps as well! The only change I may make is putting a carbon flat bar on it.

Yep, it looks exactly like that, except mine is going to have black/polished Deore LX. It's looking pretty spiffy so far. Just picked up a set of Juego De Fuego's, and a new chrome steel QR seatpost binder.,,,,BD
I thought the tig welding came before the fillet brazing, but my 84 Sierra is tig welded..so

I know where a 90's Trek 7000 right now for a sweet heart of a deal. Would it be worth it to mess with. A little rough but not bad.

The bike itself is fantastic. It originally came with an old school Manitou suspension fork, but I am really digging the new Waltworks.

Marin Indian Fire trail - 1992 i think, nothing original except seat post, really fun to ride.
I wanted straight forks and threadless, but suspension corrected versions were all i could find for my budget so it looks a little goofy
Had it single speed with a chain tensioner and got lucky and found the magic ratio without too much effort.
(This thread is responsible for my current fascination with old mountain bikes, thanks for all the cool posts)

I think it was Charge that was making some. Lemme google a bit.
Hmmm, the sidewall looks a little dark in these pics, but these are the ones I was thinking of.
Looks like Wiggle might have them in stock.

Thanks for that, turns out from wiggle there discontinued but Monza imports distributes them in Australia so I'm on to them.

Damn, so the "10+ In Stock" on wiggle isn't accurate? Bummer. I wouldn't mind getting a few of those on my bikes.
Glad you found a source though!

Here's my old Trek 950, from 1991:
For the first five years it was a city bike, then for the next five years it was a dirt bike, then it sat for a while, and for a couple of years I was using it to tow a trailercycle. It was getting kind of ratty, so I replaced it with something modern. Now, it just sits, which is sad. So, if there's anyone in the Atlanta, GA area that wants it, it's yours. I believe it's a 20 inch frame size. I'm 5' 11' with a 34 inch inseam and it's great for a knockaround bike, but it was a bit tall for these tight Eastern trails. I'm not real interested in shipping it, but if someone wants to come and get it, all I'm asking in return is karma.
