That's a good bike for a fair price. Not a bargain but a decent price for your area, especially if it has just been serviced. It should handle fenders, heavy loads, fat tires, etc. - all the things that make for a good commuter. Unless it gets stolen or trashed somehow it should hold its value well, too.

It's price reflects it being a collectable. It's a nice bike but it probably has 27" wheels and friction shifting, which is older tech. I see this seller has another bike for sale also.

Wheelsmith built wheels with Specialized (Sansin) sealed bearing hubs and Wheelsmith Saturne rims. Suntour winner freewheel.
Suntour Cyclone derailleurs with sealed bearing pullys. Sugino Mity Compe crankset with KKT Pro-Ace pedals. Selle San Marco saddle. English bb and headset.
This bike is a museum peice. It's in excellent condition. It's a dream to ride, I've done two metric centurys on it since I overhauled it. $350 and worth a lot more.

This is a 1978 Schwinn Paramount road bike. Rare 67cm (26") frame with a 36" standover. Suggested rider height 6'2 and up.
Serial # on rear droupout: L7828. Date code on headbadge: 3348. This indicates manufacture in late 1978.
Features full Reynolds 531 frame tubing with Campy dropous, fork ends and headset, and fancy Nervex curved cutout lugs. Drivetrain has Campy shifters mated to Shimano 600 Arabesque derailleurs & cotterless crank. This is one of the easiest shifting drivetrains I've ever had the pleasure to adjust. Shimano 600 brakes with SunTour Superbe brake levers. Cinelli EXA hexagonal-section handlebars and Cinelli stem. Rigida 700c rims on Shimano hubs and Selle Italia Turbo leather saddle.
Condition: Cosmetics: Frame has chips, scratches and touchups. Components show a little surface wear. Gum brake hoods show "sunburn" deterioration, but I don't have a source to replace these. Mechanicals: Rides, brakes and shifts well. New cork bar tape just installed. Ready to go!

The pump is a Zefal HP with AFA head (holds perfect pressure), Fizik Aliante (pretty much brand new) and SR (Sakae Ringyo) 27.0 fluted seatpost.
Recessed brake frame, chain hanger on seatstay, heart cut out of BB shell, "B" pantos on insides of fork blades, "Benotto" panto on seat stay caps.
Shimano 600 headset and what looks like a matching square taper BB. Removed the adjustable side, everything was well greased and there was no rust. Did not touch the fixed cup.
I rate paint at 6.5/10, decals, well you can see from the photo. Paint is much better on the main tubes than the inside of the stays. Could be cleaned up. Would make a great rider for the shorter enthusiast or a significant other!
Remnants of "Tubi Rinforzati Garantiti" and "Acciaio Speciale" sticker on headtube end of downtube. Downtube cable stops installed in preparation for an Ergo or STI group.
Asking $250, located in North Falmouth just over the bridge. Will ship for shipping cost.
Will entertain trades towards a 16-17" 29er hardtail.

Bars: Fiamme (Italian 60's, 26.0), drops 40cm outer, 35.5cm inner
The pump is a Zefal HP with AFA head (holds perfect pressure), Fizik Aliante (pretty much brand new) and SR (Sakae Ringyo) 27.0 fluted seatpost.
Recessed brake frame, chain hanger on seatstay, heart cut out of BB shell, "B" pantos on insides of fork blades, "Benotto" panto on seat stay caps.
Shimano 600 headset and what looks like a matching square taper BB. Removed the adjustable side, everything was well greased and there was no rust. Did not touch the fixed cup.
I rate paint at 6.5/10, decals, well you can see from the photo. Paint is much better on the main tubes than the inside of the stays. Could be cleaned up. Would make a great rider for the shorter enthusiast or a significant other!
Remnants of "Tubi Rinforzati Garantiti" and "Acciaio Speciale" sticker on headtube end of downtube. Downtube cable stops installed in preparation for an Ergo or STI group.
Asking $250, located in North Falmouth just over the bridge. Will ship for shipping cost.
Will entertain trades towards a 16-17" 29er hardtail.

This bicycle is from the mid eighties and has been very well taken care of. It has recently had the chain, rear derailer, and brake cable housings replaced along with a full service by a local bicycle shop. This was done about three months ago. I rode it once, about 8 miles, immediately after and it has been in my garage ever since. Now I'm moving to California and would rather give it a new owner than put it through the stress of shipping it across country in a small box. Pictures are included below.

1978 Peugeot UO9 Racing Bike in London, Europe

Lovely top end Peugeot UO9 racer from 1978, this was one of Peugeots earlier line of racers, the bike only came in this stunning almost electric blue colour.
It has nice chrome tipped front forks, extra large flanges with Normandy hubs and Rigida rims.
There are Weinmann dual brake levers with centre pull calliper brakes.
The Simplex gear changers are mounted at the top of the stem rather than the frame, with 5 Simplex gears and Stronglight crank.
The price caught my attention. Is a bike of this age in this condition worth the £220 asking price?
