Should have told her you have a terrible migraine headache and her loud voice is beginning to make you nauseous. A few gagging responses in her direction should help to convince her. Some people are incredibly rude.

Totally clueless. The one who was assigned to me actually showed up without a veterinary license. So she can't actually do anything. Guess who gets to pick up her slack? Your truly.
Today when I asked her the status of her license, she said she still needed to mail the form in to the veterinary medical board. Why hadn't she done that already? Because she was working (with me, actually not working, it's me doing the work) and has no stamps.
I had to stop what I was doing (the actual doctor work), go find the hospital administrator and tell him to get her paperwork and FedEx it today to the veterinary medical board. Yikes. Just total yikes.

It was. Tough climb. Actually, the ride in was pretty rough, too. Thankfully, Machka's cousin has a Jeep and that made it easier. Just as well I handed back the rental car yesterday in pristine condition... it might have been a wreck today.
Then came the hike, and it was up, up, up. 3.5km and 700 metres vertical from the car park to top out at 2100 metres. That's around 20% average grade. Lots of flinty and rocky paths to negotiate.
And when we finally got to the top, I said: "Wow, just wow, just wow!"
Machka will have pics somewhere, and I will link eventually, but the view to the Fraser Valley was truly amazing. We had a good view of Mt Baker, another 1000 metres higher in the distance and covered in snow and ice, and a magnificent array of ranges and peaks.
Very worthwhile the effort. I am thinking though that a spa bath at the local gym and swimming pool might be in order tomorrow (our last full day before we depart for the depths of winter back home).

So this new guy started riding with us just a few months ago. Nice guy, mid 30's, said he had just started riding a couple months before he started with us. He was already an ok rider but probably a B rider. He has made amazing progress since the spring and is now an A- rider with the potential to be an A rider.
I mentioned this fairly remarkable rapid rise in cycling ability to another rider, and he clued me in that the new guy is a former professional MLB baseball player. So the guy is obviously a gifted athlete. Now it makes sense.

I was in the plant last night from 9:30pm to 3am battling flood waters, and cleaning up the aftermath. When I would look outside, I would invariably see some idiot trying to drive their car under 690 to its sputtering doom. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera to catch the picture of the guy pushing his bike through it. I didn't realize he was pushing a bike until it slowly emerged from beneath the murky water. At a distance, I couldn't tell if he had a low end 105 group.

I took a rare day off from riding and got some chores done - put up three outdoor lights, none of which were straight forward installations, hung a new heavy duty downspout. The excessive rain has been hard on one of my downspouts. Water drops a story and a half in a large size spout and has ripped out the elbows. A nice lesson in hydraulics but nothing new elbows and pop rivets should handle.
I wanted to continue pruning trees but my wife won't let me. That reminds me, time to head to the doctor to get stitches removed.

I think the whole riding thing is about to be a moot point, though - there's a very good chance my next job won't give me enough time to do more than be a runner. And I'm finally getting decent at it, anyway.

Valium is actually a big improvement for me when I take it; I wish it were something that could be taken every day with no ill effects.
