Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Picked up this 2001 Bianchi Mega Pro SL last Friday in Dripping Springs, Texas...has Ultegra Brifters, brakes and front derailleur with a Dura Ace rear derailleur and Mavic Aksium Race wheels. A Thompson seat post and my old Selle San Marco Flite saddle top it off. I put the Lizard Skins DSP Celeste Bar Tape on Sunday...

Planning on changing the saddle, & seat post 1st.
Keep us posted G. Like to see how it turns out.

Picked up my first road bike last week! Put about 50 miles on it so far. I have been riding 5 days a week and getting back into it.

I gave her a "once over", & she's in pretty good condition. No rust, & few nicks in the paint, & the fork polished up really nicely, no pitting @ all.
I'll snap a few more pics when the sun comes out.

I switched the front rim to a Mavic Open pro I had laying around, & swapped out the 25mm, for 28mm Armadillos(my commute is pretty rough).
I was surprised to see the 28mm's actually cleared, not clearance issues whatsoever.

She may not be the lightest, but I think she's pretty and a blast to ride. Custom made while I was living in Italy 2001. Veloce and Mirage parts, triple, but new wheels, bar, stem, and saddle this year. What color tires should I go with next? Blue? Yellow? Blue front yellow rear? White? Thinking regular old black is too dull for all this Italian bling.

Look at the last picture showing the crankset. You should see it.

Not sure about the silver in the saddle, but it was a gift from my sister, so I wanna make it work, I loved the red frame, so I swapped the sora, for a full 105 group set.
