Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Still have some pain from that foot wound, but it LOOKS a whole lot better and I think it's healing. Cycling should help with the circulation in that leg. Bionic knee feels great.
Kudos

But how much of that is endemic to the culture of the company and how much is learned apathy on the part of individual employees?

I was up way past midnight and this morning I had prime rib for breakfast/brunch. (Everyone else at the table had a vegetarian omelette.) In other news, Lester is an inveterate poacher. I don't mind sharing but at least give me a chance to offer you some first. Which is what I was about to do when he reached across the table and speared a bite.

We also visited a newly relocated comic book shop. In addition to completely lacking gaming supplies, they had a place for everything and everything was in its place. There was nobody loitering and there was a tres sophisticated jazz arrangement of "Little Brown Jug" coming out the speakers. My kid described it as looking like it had been cleaned up and made appropriate and acceptable in anticipation of a visit from parents. They did just just reopen in this location so maybe they'll become messier and friendlier as they develop history in the new place.

Nyquil and bicycle dreams tonight. I will try to be out there daily going forward. Man my life sucks without cycling. Percoset is fun for like a long weekend, then it just gets old.

Would it be free? I said it already, I am drawing the line at paying for music. Booze is still being negotiated. Maybe if I go positive on the booze, PCad would feel inclined to provide the music for free. Hmmm. Let me think about this.

My grandkids know the proper response: "SWIPER, NO SWIPING" Damn I love how all the kids' meals come with more fries than they can eat.

Garbage. Swill. Sewage. I'm embarrassed to even be responding to such a question, but I'm taking one for the team.

In my case, a lot of it is enforced due to the rigid structure that comes from... being a mega-bank. They don't understand the creation of software, don't care that they don't understand it, and care far more about reporting and audit trails than productivity and quality. It means that we aren't allowed to do what's best, or what's right, just what's documented and paid for. It's a very soul-sucking way to do business.

Writing it out is so painful I want to go apply places now. After bonus season...

Logged my first miles of the year with my local club. Only 22.2 miles but always great to get out in Winter. This time of year, every outdoor ride can be your last for awhile.

They still seem to maintain the old ones (at least, I hope they do), but yeah, I was stunned when I got back from my brick with Atomic Girl and saw a KOM. Then I saw it was "2015 KOM". Ok, whatever. Not real.

This quest for 10K by certain Addictionites has a high likelihood to affect the S:N ratio in here.

I am not saying which direction, but the answer should be obvious.

I actually enjoy using strava to track my mileage and secondarily how I am doing on a handful of selected segments. But I don't really care how I am on the leaderboard, the only one I might be competing against is myself.
