Got my Windsor Hour about a week ago, its my first bike. Everything looks good from the build, but when I rode it. It was fine for a bit, than I believe that the lockring wasnt tight enough so I had to bring it into the shop to have it tightened down. So far everything is good so far. I already got Origin8 pedals and soma toe clips. Planning on changing the drop bars to bull horns and the seat. Ill probably be looking into a new crank set and cog? Anyone have opinions on what crank set and cog I should go with. Nothing to expensive though.

You could always go with a Surly cog and an Origin 8 Crankset - nothing too expensive

I ride a 17t cog on my Hour. best decision i've made so far i'd say. look into some Pake cranks, they're clean in matte black!

hmmmmm..... let us know how long your hub/wheel lasts. Those radial spokes scare me.

Hey guys.
I'm a total noob with bicycles and I have a Windsor hour that's pretty much stock. I hear some clanking or something coming from my crankset or chains, somewhere around there. I was thinking it might be my bottom bracket since I heard they were notoriously bad on these bikes. Can anyone tell me what I need to fix on the bike to remedy the issue? Thanks.

Here is my new Windsor Hour. using it to commute 2 miles a day (LA).

Changes I made:
chopped and flipped the handlebar,
located the rear break at the front (by replacing the original bolt with longer one),
added Topeak rack (v-type) and bag (dx).

next on my list - power grips pedals and straps (according to what I read it's way better than the cages, almost as good as clipless).

3. had to adjust the toe clips,
4. my rear wheel is slightly out of true

Other than that, just looking at it makes me want to ride. I just came from riding through 2 boroughs for no reason.
This is standard with an internet bike. Every nut and bolt needs to be adjusted and retightened to near stripped hex head torques. The wheels are slightly out of round. My Vilano needed the rear lateral and radial true up, the front was just a lateral true up. The wheel true up is incredible and in my case $ 12 for both wheels, best $ 12 extra that was spent. Not only the crank arm bolts/nuts need to be tightened after a ride, but they should have been before riding. Bottom Bracket, tighten that sucker too, especially if it's not a sealed system bottom bracket.

I am modifying my new Windsor The Hour and will post pics soon. I am going to buy a front brake for it and I am curious what "reach" size I need (long vs short). What have others used?

Hey,

I'm getting a Windsor the Hour from BD. I'm 5'10" / 5'10.5" with a 33.5" / 34" inseam (did the book against the wall thing to measure it). I'm guessing I should get a 54cm or 56cm... but I'm confused due to my weird inseam/height ratio. I know this isn't the place to ask, but my post in SS/FG didn't get a response =/. Any owners have any tips, I would appreciate it a lot? Thanks
