Trainer. Both my hands have various swollen fingers, etc. Nothing's broken, so hopefully I can ride outside tomorrow. Feels like I got the crap kicked out of me. Everything is sore today.

TT bike every day lasted two days. Too many non-muscle things hurt for me to ride my usual volume on that bike and not injure myself via tmts. Officially in training-to-train mode where I'll ride it as much as I can, but have to listen to my tendons and **** too.

The improvement is basically due to my vo2 power being up like 6-7% this year via a lot of hard work and a lot of learning the ropes in the 1/2 races. I guess higher vo2 power raises your theoretical FTP ceiling a similar amount, so it was just a question of actually doing some focused FTP work, which I did over the past month as prep for base, the idea being higher FTP = higher z2 watts = you can burn more kj. At the beginning of the block (4 weeks ago?) my 20min was 12w lower than it is now. In terms of raw % over my previous PB FTP I am up about 2.5%, so I would guess I can probably snag another 10-15W relatively easily. ...not that the work will be easy to do, but I mean that by simply doing the work the watts will come around pretty quickly.

No riding for me this past week. Spent the week wandering Paris. Lots of walking. And there are a ton of stairs here. I'd hate to be in a wheelchair here. Not sure I'd be able to get around.
Also, I learned the hard way that the short line to get in the Eiffel Tower is the line to the stairs.

Intervals on my lunch and breaks. With my sore wrists and fingers, there's no way I can stay upright if I hit a pothole so riding tonight is out. Might try out zwifting.

90 min of ez this morning, second ride of the rest week. 1x10' at mid/high z4, but otherwise z1.
I felt pretty sore, and I'm not sure if it's fatigue from the previous training block, or the company sponsored workout that I did yesterday. It involved jogging, squats, lunges and long jumps, among some upper body stuff. I think that I'm going to try to do them once/week before easy or off days on the bike, just to stay more well rounded.

Semi - rest week last week, just lower volume, but still a couple of sweet spot & big gear efforts.
Side note, big gear work on my TacX Bushido felt ridiculously hard compared to out on the road. I wonder if it's due to the lack of inertia?
Overdid it on pizza & cookies @ the team kit fit day Monday x_x
Weights after that. They're getting heavier now! Glutes and quads are sore today. Still going to be doing lifting once a week through December, so nothing too exciting until after that. Duration for big gear & sweet spot work is increasing, though (but it has also been feeling easier, so I suspect my fitness is coming back, yay)
My appetite has been really hard to control lately. I started reading about some riders like Brad Huff that found they raced better at higher body weight. I wonder if I'd fall into that category...

2x30' sweet spot. I thought I would be tired from yesterday's higher intensity, but instead it feels like it unblocked something. Hmm.

'too cold' to ride in the morning, and when i was about to ride in the afternoon it was pouring rain. no rain was in the forecast, *smh*. sacked up and set up the trainer and got in an hour with 30s on/off while watching TV. made it the whole hour which was better than my attempt a couple weeks ago, actually having a big enough fan must have helped (still lots of sweat though...), as did the short sets and having TV to help distract from the misery. im happy i wasn't able to talk myself out of getting in a ride...
still, it'd better not rain tomorrow.

I haven't ridden my bike in about 6 weeks. It may be another week until my bike gets shipped out here

Yes, but Mountain View's weather is not 'rated best by government test'. It rained between 1 and 4 and the roads were quite wet after. Judging by people's ride titles on strava, the rain wasn't isolated to just where I was either.

The most important thing to do as a transplant is to constantly remind us natives how your old state is 10x better, our government is communist, and we just don't understand how much better things are everywhere else. All the while posting on facebook all the awesome things you did on the weekend that aren't even possible in your old state.

People comment on rain in their Strava titles where you live?

Been nailing it since the season ended. Consistent 600 TSS weeks, and bodyweight below where I raced last season. In fact, year to date I'm 15 pounds less than I was last year. No drop off in power, though obvi my FTP is probably a few points off right now just due to training focus. Heading to Seattle for 6 days of meetings, and sadly a (much needed) training break.
My yearly hour total will be within 10 or so hours from 2015.
All signs point to things being on track.

Turns out 50/22 single speed increases my ride time ~10% both ways. Feels harder as well. Momentum and whatnot.

I've ridden the TT bike 4 of the last 5 days. It will suck to see my CTL drop, but after 70 hours/1300 miles in both October and November I need the break.
Today I sat 5-15s behind the group ride and just used them for pacing. Was easier than I expected, but that's fine. I felt like I was settling into the bike well today and my 107 average HR for a 21mph ride without significant pain aside from the saddle being a little irritating was positive.

Well, CTL dropped from 90 to 76 in a week, and I'm just getting off work so don't wanna ride now. Guess I'll try and compensate this weekend. And maybe tomorrow.
