Ride Clean

Just got the USAC email about Kayle. Just pawing the blame off on Usada, which is the right thing to do. I do find it interesting they called him out by name in the email. First I've seen it so public.
Also it seems they are a bit behind on their drug testing for the year. 200 seems so low to me, but what do I know.

USADA hasn't done testing at a race I've done this year outside of Nats, and I've traveled to half a dozen bigger races than I have the last few years.
Even before the rideclean thing they'd be at at least one race I'd do, if not two or three.
More targeted tests now, maybe?

They did check my tandem partner in NC one year. Negative.
Still an IQ test in any case. Leogrande left EPO in the fridge of his rental house after he moved out. Not a bright bulb.

Even if they don't cause cancer they probably make any tiny cancers you have start to grow super fast.

This one is odd he'd be caught with so many. At least it leaves no doubt and he didn't bother to fight it.
It is the single substance "mistakes" (and I believe some are) and the hearings that make things so messy. This one is clean.
Will they ask for his winning prize money back? Maybe go back 10 years to 2007 bust?

USADA came to the local crit today! (Red Kite in Pleasanton)
They seemed to be testing the winners from what I saw, and 1st/3rd from the p/1/2 race. I wish they'd show up at a bigger race, but great to see them in person finally.
When I heard they'd be there I was hoping to get tested just to say I did, but alas I got 2nd..

I told him they should come to the Giro!
But Masters districts is probably a good place for them to go.. they must've been looking at pictures on FB and noticed the enlarged biceps.

Some folks were discussing Kayle yesterday, and we ended up chatting about the testing and some other local dopers.
One of the guys I was chatting with has won several Masters National Championships this year - like 3 or 4 in different events. He has not been tested.

USADA was out at our races yesterday testing winners. They'll be back again today. Good to see.

Never seen USADA at any of the races I've done. They were handing out literature at collegiate nationals this year, but AFAIK, there was not any testing done. I did not see their tent.
But then again, I finished so far OTB in CO they could have already gone home before I finished.

That sucks. This sport is too complicated. But what medical reason would a guy take clomiphene?
Edit: huh, how about that.

yeah. I believe he never intended to cheat. But everyone says that, so who knows really. I'm choosing optimism in his case because he's a friend.

Looks like he stopped taking it months prior? Not sure I'd be smart enough to know something a doctor gave me would still be in my system that far after.

Whether or not it's in your system months later is beside the point. I mean this is what a lot of doping looks like: take it on the off season so you can train harder and recover quicker, then you're "clean" during races.
I'm not saying that's what happened here but..

Yeah, I hear you. Seems here though it looks like it was actual treatment and he dropped the ball on tracking what he should really do. Not an excuse, just that it's a complicated playing field. I'm certain I'm racing against guys who are taking actual performance enhancing stuff, and I have little faith they'll ever get caught. That some guy gets suspended for taking something to increase his sperm count or something provides me little confidence that the system is working.
