I thought you moved back to the US ?

1) Joe's Pro Bikes
2) San Antonio Tx
3) A buncha them
4) Just go race and not sweat stuff. Be like Jens. More TTT's and stage races. Stupid stuff like drivin to NY for Battenkill. Enter anything with "Roubaix" in the name. Find races with large crowds and do wheelies if I'm OTB until I get pulled. Bust out a 30 MPH TT with Doc. Finish a P1/2 within rifle range of the winner. Be like Jens.

Does this include the Paris-Roubaix of California, the loved and equally despised Cloberopolis?

And where is a pic of the kit.

Somewhat off topic, but...
I couldn't believe people were riding carbon wheels in that race! The pot wholes were big enough to swallow the bike. I have no idea why they hold the race in that location. There are so much better places in that general location!

-Hillsboro-Roubaix in south-central IL. There is wind, there is mud, and there are cobbles. 88 miles of awesomeness.

-Any SuperWeek race. A fair amount of Texans, Arizonans, New Mexicans, Oklahomans, and Nuts/Fruits from Cali come out every year. And in two straight weeks of 100km crits/circuits or 120-160km RRs, eventually everyone has a bad day.

I think I'll be running carbons this year, it wasn't as bad as people made it sound and as far as the race location goes I give you 2 answers:
1. Because its harder. We are all masocists at heart and love to suffer
2. Because its VeloPromo. They have made an art form out of finding the worst roads in california and racing on them (Leesville is much worse in my opinion)

As much as I'd like another shot, it's going to be early for me to make it back.

As for the kit, haven't gotten the '08 version yet, but if you liked the Rabobank colors...

Word from my superior officers has Hillsboro-Roubaix as the 29th of March.

We'll be going up against at least two big TT-type horses, building back up after they race the ToC with KB/Medifast and Jelly Belly. Maybe three. Yay.

I'm praying it's not windy.

Edit: RonBridal beat me to the punch.

P.s. Ron, were you at the TT Sunday? I was there walking around, but not riding.

I live in southern IL so I don't make it to many things up north during the early part of the year. In fact I won't even be able to make it to Hillsboro because I coach soccer here in Quincy. I'm part of the ABD cat 3 team and most of those guys will be at Hillsboro though. I'm going to see what I can do but we have an away game at Rock Island that day and I probably won't be able to get away. You're a 2, correct?

Yeah, but I'm not really a part of the elite team. I'm getting one of their kits for NRC/bigger races, and a "normal" one for regular or smaller races. No bikes or parts or anything like that just yet, obviously. But, I passed that stuff up from some other teams to race for ABD. And I think I'll be better for it, too. None of those other teams have the experience that ABD does; the team's put out 8 or so Pro's in the last 6-7 years, and it seems like people stick around for a while. Gotta be doing something right.

Defintely doing something right. That's one of the reasons I jumped ship from Team Mack. Their number of years remaining is limited and things worked out well for me and another Mack rider to join ABD. I'll be in Chicago racing a lot this year so I'm sure I'll run into you at one of the big races.

Slightly OT. Duke, NRC events are only open to PRO/1 racers correct? Are you close to another upgrade?

Well, apparently I was mistaken. I know that some races were Pro/1/2 last year, particularly the first week of SuperWeek, which was all NRC last year. Apparently they've taken SuperWeek off the NRC list for some crits in Kentucky and Idaho. Yeah, that makes sense...

Looks like I have more work to do in the early part of the season than I thought.

So I might get a chance to race with the botto?

Looking at the 2008 NRC again, it appears that they've skipped the entire midwest.

Not a single race in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri or Wisconsin.

And yet they have some races I've never heard of in NJ, KY and ID. Well, I have heard of the Wells Fargo Twilight, but I fail to see how they make that an NRC race and alienate an entire region of the country.

Please please tell me they aren't just using the name 'Roubaix' to indicate crappy pavement. Come on. It's a city in France. Bah.

That's like calling it the 'Tour de Georgia.'

As for new teams, I will be moving somewhere in late spring / early summer.

So if you've got a team that's not overly full of itself in Washington, DC; Ann Arbor, MI; Charlottesville, VA; London; or Warwick, England, I'm taking offers.

And I'm going to have trouble spelling 'Arbor' without a 'u.'
